Helping my son move back from his summer internship, have a couple days to explore or have fun. Don’t want to do anything touristy.
Could bring golf clubs. Thought about a guided fishing tour but couldn’t keep the fish.. open to day trips but not sure what the best options would be. Could use some advice.

Go to the food board and find some good restaurants to try.
Hike tunica falls. Go to the prop stop. Do a swamp touring in an airboat. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the Super Walmarts. Throw in the Neighborhood Markets for bonus points.

Go eat the best steak in the city at Sullivan’s. Then have an after dinner drink and dessert at J. Alexander’s.

In seriousness, I’d recommend doing something local. Doesn’t have to be something you aren’t into just because it’s there.
Whatever your interests are, pick that. Like bourbon? Find a local restaurant known to have allocated pours. Stuff like that.
Personally I would:
Find a nice park, go for a run in the AM
hit up any local sporting event or festival
Get lunch at a local spot. Go see some landmarks. That sort of thing.

Probably don't have to venture that far in reality. Can find some state streets or president streets closer to campus and downtown.

I can't really think of anything in BR to do other than golf or casino. I mean there are things to do, Im never bored when I want to get out and do something, but if you travel just outside of BR there are a ton of thing to do. Go tour some plantations. There's a distillery or two close by.

I never did this when I lived in BR, so yeah we are booked for Thursday evening. Only 90 minutes though.

Always enjoyed Rosemound Plantation, go to the ol’ Civil War sites. Port Hudson park.

Go for a walk/run on the levee of Mississippi River. (Used to would say campus lakes but a huge clean up project)
Take the Plaquemine ferry to go play golf at the island (twofer-solid course and get out on a boat on the Mississippi River) used to would add nottaway plantation in for this and be a threefer but it is recently burned down
Numerous solid restaurants.
Kind of a dead spot in regards to sports.
Laburge casino is there if that’s your thing
If you are really up for “day trips” New Orleans is ~1 hour away which offers everything that NOLA has to offer.
ETA to echo state Capitol. Been a while since I went but was some interesting stuff on Huey long given our history and his assassination. He’s a very interesting figure if nothing else

No way I’m having an entree at one restaurant and drinks and dessert at another, especially in a city that you can’t walk from one restaurant to another.
Not sure if OP wants to stay somewhere overnight but the Myrtles in St. Francisville is a cool place to stay with a nice restaurant (1796) on the grounds and you can take a complimentary guided tour of the main house with your stay
