Wedge spacing

Noticed today that I've got a decent gap in my wedges. New iron set has a 44 deg PW that I hit full~130ish. My next wedge is a 50, then a 54, and planned for a 58 in the near future. Problem is my 50 seems to fly right around 100 leaving a 30 yd gap id have to overcome with "feel" that I don't have at this time. Not seeing a lot of options out there to fill that gap. Looks like Vokey has a 46.1 and a 48.1. I could see going with the 48.1 and swapping to a 52, 56, 60. But don't feel like buying 4 more wedges. 46.1 just seems to close to the 44. Not super familiar, but is this where taking the 46 and bending to 47 may be a good option?

You probably don't need a lob wedge like myself and the vast majority of other golfers.

This is the problem you run into when you have juiced irons. You def need a 48 degree gap wedge. I’d do 48, 54, 60. You really aren’t trying to hit full shots with your 54 and 60 so the gapping should be much easier to have in that part of the bag more so than 6 degrees gap from PW to Gap.

A 30 yard gap from 100 - 130 is a problem. Maybe check out the Cleveland wedges on sale if you don't want to pay Vokey prices? They're fantastic.
I'm a low single-digit and I'd game this 48° all day.

Does the iron set you have offer a “gap” wedge?
I have 45,50,54,58 from pitching wedge to most lofted.
The 45 and 50 are the iron sets Pitching and gap wedge.
Most iron sets offer through gap wedge.
Modern lofts are interesting. I saw a pitching wedge in one iron set that is 41.5.

I just went 4/48/52/56 and have been enjoying that gapping. The 56 isn’t ideal in green side bunkers, but it’s manageable.

Checked the lofts on the wedges first??
Pretty easy to get off if you hit off of mats a lot.

Dump the 50, get a 48, bend the 54 to 53. That will get your gapping back in line. If you have a wider gap between 48 and 53 than you like, just work on 80% shots with 48.

Iron set offers a 48 deg. I'd assume a iron set design might carry a little more distance than an equivalent wedge style club. So it's possible a 48 in an iron style may carry similar to a 46-47 in a pure wedge design? May be exactly the gap I need. Just don't think any stores carry the gap/approach wedges to try out on the simulator for distance comparison.

What? It’s specifically designed for that

I mean, this is fairly individualistic. I’ve used a 60 in greenside bunkers for my entire time enjoying the sport.

Everyone has their own thing but that is a setup for a true sociopath. No offense

For those times when you want to have your 120 and 114 yard shots dialed in.

They are wildly different bounces. It makes sense for me
The 50 is grinded down to almost negative bounce. With all the bare ground hard patches at Beau chene it’s my most used wedge

Get a 48, bend the 54 to 53 for 5 degree gaps for 48-58. It’s what I’ve done. You could even bend the 50 to 48 but just know you lose a degree of bounce for every degree strong you bend a club so if your a digger it could be a problem.

I try to keep about 5 degrees of separation personally. My PW is 45 so I go 50,54(bent to 55) and a 60. Seems to work well for me. You just have to figure out the purpose for each wedge in your setup

My PW is 45, so I went with the 48, 52, and 56. I quit using my 60, I wasn't hitting it consistent enough to keep playing it. It's a good loft spread for me.

buy a 48, bend the 54 to a 52 and buy a 56. If you have enough room in your bag buy a 60 as well, a lot of times you can do without some of the longer irons in your bag, some of them you hardly ever use whereas you will use your wedges more often.
