Hello. My puppies just made their earliest trip ever to the dog park. I fell asleep before dark and woke up at 2:30.

I’m surprised it’s open that early.

This is the first day I didn’t get up at 2am for a potty run.

Morning teech, Clean, longhorn, Papa and those yet to come.

On this day in history:

1533
Atahuallpa, the 13th and last emperor of the Incas, dies by strangulation at the hands of Francisco Pizarro’s Spanish conquistadors. The execution of Atahuallpa, the last free reigning emperor, marked the end of 300 years of Inca civilization.

1775
The U.S. Postal Service was established by the Second Continental Congress, and Benjamin Franklin was named the first postmaster general.

1797
John Quincy Adams marries Louisa Johnson, first foreign-born first lady.

1847
The Republic of Liberia, formerly a colony of the American Colonization Society, declares its independence. Under pressure from Britain, the United States hesitantly accepted Liberian sovereignty, making the West African nation the first democratic republic in African history. A constitution modeled after the U.S. Constitution was approved, and in 1848 Joseph Jenkins Roberts was elected Liberia’s first president.

1863
Confederate cavalry leader John Hunt Morgan and 360 of his men are captured at Salineville, Ohio, during a spectacular raid on the North.

1908
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is born when U.S. Attorney General Charles Bonaparte orders a group of newly hired federal investigators to report to Chief Examiner Stanley W. Finch of the Department of Justice. One year later, the Office of the Chief Examiner was renamed the Bureau of Investigation, and in 1935 it became the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

1941
President Franklin Roosevelt seizes all Japanese assets in the United States in retaliation for the Japanese occupation of French Indo-China.

1943
Los Angeles experienced its first major smog as a “hellish cloud” descended on the city, limiting visibility to three blocks; the noxious smog was later blamed, in part, on the exhaust from vehicles.

1945
Winston Churchill is forced to resign as British prime minister following his party’s electoral defeat by the Labour Party. It was the first general election held in Britain in more than a decade. The same day, Clement Attlee, the Labour leader, was sworn in as the new British leader.

1947
President Harry S. Truman signs the National Security Act, which becomes one of the most important pieces of Cold War legislation. The act established much of the bureaucratic framework for foreign policymaking for the next 40-plus years of the Cold War.

1948
U.S. President Harry S. Truman signed Executive Order 9981, which abolished racial segregation in the U.S. military.

1953
Fidel Castro attacked the Moncada military fortress in Santiago de Cuba, and, although unsuccessful, the event later inspired the 26th of July Movement, which culminated in the overthrow of Fulgencio Batista's regime in Cuba.

1956
The Italian passenger liner Andrea Doria sank after colliding with the Stockholm off the coast of Nantucket in the Atlantic Ocean; 51 people were killed.

1956
Suez Canal seized. Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser seized control of the Suez Canal and nationalized it, sparking a crisis that later resulted in French, British, and Israeli forces briefly occupying parts of Egypt.

1964
American actress Sandra Bullock—known for her charismatic energy and wit on-screen, especially as girl-next-door characters in romantic comedies—was born.

1965
The Republic of Maldives gained its independence from Britain.

1972
Singer Johnny Cash meets with President Richard Nixon to lobby for prison reform. Cash, who often performed for prison inmates, was never one himself, although he did spend a few nights in jail for minor offenses.

1990
The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush; the legislation provided civil rights protections to individuals with physical and mental disabilities and guaranteed them equal opportunity in public accommodations, employment, transportation, state and local government services, and telecommunications.

2004
In response to an explosion of violence in the Darfur region, the European Union advocated that the United Nations institute economic sanctions against Sudan.

2016
At the Democratic National Convention, Hillary Clinton was officially nominated for president, becoming the first woman to top the presidential ticket of a major party in the United States.

Hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Morning everyone.

Hot and humid where I am with nothing worth watching on TV, should be able to accomplish tasks easily. Hope everyone has a great day.

I don’t think you’re officially allowed to come that early, but what are they gonna do? Make a disabled guy leave with his two senior dogs… it’s not easy for me to walk them both at the same time.

It was a lot harder right after I had surgery, but I still am limited.

Use that copy & paste technology I've been hearing about.

The cat is currently in the outside phase of the inside/outside game after a healthy buffet breakfast. Now meowing to come back inside. Now outside again.
