The average price of a pound of ground beef rose to $6.12 in June, up nearly 12% from a year ago, according to U.S. government data. The average price of all uncooked beef steaks rose 8% to $11.49 per pound.

Many factors including drought and cattle prices have contributed to that decline. And now the emergence of a pesky parasite in Mexico and the prospect of widespread tariffs may further reduce supply and raise prices.

One of the main reasons I voted for Trump was to reverse the course of meat inflation and now the opposite is happening. 4 steaks at costco cost $80 - $90 now. This will only fuel the Low T epidemic in our country when people start turning to cheaper processed garbage.

I'm about to take a break from red meat for awhile. I was at the store Sunday, a three pack of 8 ounce mediocre looking strip steaks were nearly $20.

Here is what Google AI says about the KC area price of a 16 oz strip steak...

quote:

AI Overview
In Kansas City markets, the price of a 16-ounce strip steak can vary depending on the store and the specific type of strip steak (e.g., bone-in, boneless, grade like Choice or Prime, whether it's grass-fed).

Based on the search results, here's a glimpse at potential pricing:

Average price per pound:

One retailer lists "Choice Boneless Beef Strip Steak" at $15.99/lb.
Another store mentions "KC Boneless Beef Strip Steak" for $22.29/lb.
Aldi offers "Grass Fed New York Strip Steaks" at $12.99/lb.
A local meat market states a price of $16.45 for a 1 lb, 16 oz, bone-in strip steak.

Price for a 16-ounce steak: Based on a general average price per pound of around $16, a 16-ounce steak would cost approximately $16. However, prices can fluctuate between stores.

In summary, a 16-ounce strip steak in a Kansas City market could range from approximately $16 to upwards of $22, depending on the specific steak and where you purchase it.
