Eliotte Heinz hasn’t been seen or heard from since the early hours of Sunday. The 22-year-old disappeared walking along the Mississippi River after leaving a bar in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Girl walking in the city at 3 AM alone sounds like something bad waiting to happen. I hope they find her but unfortunately its not looking good.

It's definitely a college town so you never know but it is most definitely not a dangerous city.

ETA: It's known for the giant Old Style six pack, and their students heading to Madison for the weekend to party there. Kinda a funny that a beer synonymous with the Cubs in Chicago is brewed in Wisconsin...their better neighbor and rival to the north.

ETA2: It's a really pretty area of the state

With all of the sick weirdos in today’s society it amazes me how fricking stupid people are to walk alone at 3am

I think there were probably more sick weirdos back in the day and these days there are cameras everywhere and smartphones tracking movements. Harder to get away with anything.

We just hear about all the stories on the news so it seems like more stuff happens.

Is the 3:20 siting along the path/ route to her residence? Or where she parked her car?

Nothing good happens when you’re a woman by herself walking around in the wee hours of the morning. This isn’t Mayberry.

My first thought too but another article said that they recovered her cell phone nearby. If she had fallen into the river she most likely would have had her phone with her.

I’m familiar with La Crosse, Wisconsin. This happens every five years or so. Typically it’s a college dude so it doesn’t make national headlines.

A while back there was a theory that a lot of drowning deaths by young people along rivers were deliberate actions of malice. I think they termed them the "smiley face killings" or something like that. I believe there's a documentary on it.

LINK

EDIT: Interesting enough, 8 of those deaths were in La Crosse Wisconsin.

"According to police, Eliotte Heinz was last seen just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday walking southbound in the 500 block of Front Street South in La Crosse."

She was walking to her apartment.

I’ve seen police videos of La Crosse.

Would never want anyone to alone there.
