Taking into account points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks per game, Angel leads the WNBA for the month of July with 36.4.
Top 6 include:
A'ja Wilson (35.6)
Alyssa Thomas (35.4)
Breanna Stewart (34.4)
Napheesa Collier (33.9)
Sabrina Ionescu (33.0)

Where does she compare when you add in a negative stat for turnovers? To imply she is somehow better than A'ja Wilson is a joke.
If AR was on a better team she would be a 8-9 mins per half player.

You really start the dumbest WNBA threads. She’s played 5 whole games (out of 6) & her team is 2-4

He used a made up star for a grand total of like 5 games to try and convince us all that she’s more than just a rebounder lol
He’s assumed her ridiculous desire and craving for attention lol
GIVE ME THE ATTENTION THAT CLARK GETS!!!!

quote:She's better stat-wise this month. But yes, A'ja is more valuable to her team. She is playing MVP type ball this month.

1. There isn't shite on TV to watch sports-wise in the summer.
2. Football season doesn't start for another month.
3. The talent level in the league has improved, and I like their attitude. They still play the game because they love it, not because of the money.
The money aspect of pro sports has turned me off to almost all pro sports. And unfortunately, now it's seeping into college sports as well.

Didn’t they just make the news for wearing a “pay me” t shirt?
I think your interest in the game is probably political. I doubt you reply enjoy the game.

quote:Serious question: why do you think this is true? What makes you think these players have better professional career options than playing basketball? According to grok, the median starting salary for a black female with a liberal arts/humanities degree is in the $40k-50k range. The rookie minimum for the WNBA is $66k. They also get a per diem. I think most of them are absolutely playing for the money.

quote:Yes, once the money starts rolling in, they'll probably be just like all the other pro sports: money first, the game second.

But for now, and for the last 25-plus years, it's been about the love of the game.

ETA: I've been a fan ever since the Houston Comets ruled the early years. I didn't even follow politics back then.

Fair point. I guess what I mean is, they haven't let the money go to their head like other pro athletes. Although I was concerned about Angel there for a while. She seems to be getting her head on straight (or straighter than it was before). It seems the influence of Shaq and Lisa Leslie has helped.

I think you'll be ok then. Last year was a banner year revenue wise and they still lost ~$50MM.
quote:MLB, PLL, INDY, F1, IMSA, NASCAR... there are lots of sports on that have much higher entertainment value than what the WNBA provides night in and night out IMHO. PLL honestly might be my favorite, that is a fun sport.
