I thought Anderson and Frey’s contract amounts were already published?

Went ahead and included Anderson because there is articles from a week ago reporting $8.8 million but no reports since or updated MLB Tracker.

Astros not reporting Frey as of yet.

Did he just not like college? I can’t imagine going for that much with another year available in college. I know leverage but for 2.5k it would be worth it just for the fun. Something can’t be right.

He was just not good. He wanted to move on with his life and give it a shot.

Wasn’t he hurt? Also is this just bonus money? What do contracts typically pay?

They make around $20k-$36k as rookies depending on level ($36k is at AAA level)

You max out around $70k/yr in the minors and thasts for a pretty seasoned guy who has been around a while.

Your bonus money is your money for most part in minors

He threw 1.2 IP or less in 3/4 years in college, he probably graduated and just wanted to move on with life

A question for y’all. Why would Cade agree to sign for 800k under slot? Do team make it up another way? Did he think that no one would take him in next few picks so he wouldn’t have gotten that anyway?

Minor league baseball is no way to make a living. If you go that route for any amount of time, it would certainly be better not to have a family to support.

This is purely my opinion and speculation, but *Kade could have had different amounts for different teams. The Mariners are currently 53-47 and 2nd place in their division. The next four picks are were Rockies (24-76), Cardinals (52-49), Pirates (40-61), Marlins (46-53). It's possible that he was willing to take less with the Mariners in order to not get drafted by one of those other teams.

Seattle has also done a fantastic job in developing pitchers over the years.
