Please do.. I still call them the Red Skins. Not on purpose or because I am trying to make some political statement, its just that the NFL is something I grew up keeping up with. My older brother kept up with it, it was watched in my house so it was just something that came automatic. I have been referring to Washington as the Redskins or the Skins since as far back as I can remember. And I hate when I say "the redskins" and someone corrects me "Its the commanders".
Let's be honest, the NFL only forced them to change because it was owned by Daniel Snyder, who was not at all liked by anyone, with good reason. He sold the team, I forget if he was forced or if the NFL just made it to where he had no choice. He pretty much had no interest in making the team as competitive as possible. The NFL had good reason to want him out, but I watched something a few years ago and there were native Americans who were Washington fans who wanted the team to change it back to the red skins.
I am convinced all of the "don't call them Indians" bullshite wasn't even something Indians really wanted. I watched something on something called Indian Relay (I think) and all of those involved, who were native American referred to each other as Indians.
What about the Chiefs? Why is Redskins bad, but the Chiefs who fanbase does the tomahawk chop not not? And as for as Cleveland.. The Guardians sound stupid. Florida St pays the Seminole tribe $1M a year to use their name. Its all a crock of shite.
