Torpedo grass. Sorry for the bad news. Torching the whole area is the only answer

Oh shite. That actually is torpedo.
I agree. Accept it or start over.

Too bad because your centipede looks quite good.

frick. My yard looks great and this shite is getting everywhere and creeping into my neighbors at Aug that he laid not even 3 months ago

Eta: this really pisses me off because I spend a ton of time to keep my yard looking great

Noticed it for the first time probably early spring during green up. It has spread pretty significantly and I have no interest in starting over, especially on a house I won’t live in for another 5yrs.

Bro, I'm going to be honest. I understand the passion but just accept it and move on. Because if you neighbors don't nuke their grass, you are screwed anyways. It's just going to come back.

At least it’s green doesn’t look horrible when cut. Pisses me off if you’d understand how particular me and neighbor are about our yards

Not particular enough. You let it get that bad and then just going to let it go?

Looks exactly like my lawn. I spray “over the top” around my garden beds and it suppresses it a bit. Otherwise, I use Celsius to kill all the other weeds like chamber bitter, VBW, doveweed and spurge and embrace the torpedo grass. No need for a sprinkler system bc it’s hardy as shite and doesn’t look half bad when it’s cut short.

I mean dude I’m not about to nuke my yard and spend money to re sod if that’s what you’re asking. I’ll focus my energy elsewhere and just keep it groomed as best I can

The problem is, you can nuke your yard and spend tons of money re sodding but if any neighbors have it, you’re wasting time and money. At least that’s my situation, not worth it as all 3 neighbors have it as well.

In the same boat my friend. Spent $$$$ resodding a few years back and apparently the landscaping co brought in river sand for fill.

Was hitting it consistently with Sethoxidym but suppressed it less and less over time.

So I just said fuk it. Centipede is thick and beautiful and most dont see the Torpedograss but I do.

My plan is to re sod again but with Zoysia or Bermuda so I have more options to kill the TG without harming the sod.

No, there isn't a great solution if both neighbors have torpedo, but so far I have been successful with

1. Nuking the centipede twice
2. Resod with zoysia
3. Had a little Torpedo return a year ago across driveway from neighbor. Sprayed that area twice with product that has Quinclorac. It hit the Torpedo and left the Zoysia alone. It hasn't returned yet.
6. Where my neighbors grass is touching, I keep a perimeter of several inches of nuked grass including fence line. So basically it is just dirt and I watch it like a hawk to nuke when pops back up in the barrier zone. Hoping they will try my plan for their yard.
7. No it isn't perfect but still loving the results 2 years in

Where are you telling me to apply the Solitaire and what are you meaning by saying be careful?

My understanding is it’s easily controlled in Bermuda, controlled carefully in zoysia and completely uncontrollable in St Aug and centipede.

If you cut more frequently I doubt it will even be noticeable unless you’re looking for it in a lush yard like you have.

If you decide to keep it and will be moving in under 5 years, I would still recommend that you fight to keep it out of any flower beds (keep spraying right inside them). Because torpedo taking over your flower beds is a hell you don't want to enter.
