I watch Josh pate’s show, and he keeps saying “ if all of LSU’s transfers hit, this could be a playoff team.”. Don’t get me wrong , we def need most of the players we got from the portal to pan out. However, that seems to be sleeping on the overall talent of the roster we assembled.

This isn’t an ole miss situation from where they 100 % were reliant on transfers. We are pairing these transfers with back to back top 10 HS recruiting classes. We have multiple young players on both sides of the ball that will make big impacts this year imo. Guys like Treydez Green, woodland, spears, breaux/mckinley, Pickett, Durham , Curne , Davis and Adams.

I think the media has been pretty kind to our largely unproven team. We have a damn talented team assembled, but sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t.

That said, I would much rather have modest expectations than high expectations this time of year.

You think every player is awesome. So it’s prob somewhere in between what the media thinks and what you think

100%. This offense is giving me 2019 vibes and the defense will just need a pulse to be a playoff team

We lack depth at a lot of positions. Staying healthy is going to be critical but I think that’s true for everyone but outside of wr and de I don’t think we can afford to loose anyone and not take a huge step backwards. Lb and Oline scare me a ton.

Where do we lack death? (depth) Please explain or tell us because from where I’m sitting LSU hadn’t had this kind of depth in at least five years.

Yeah this team will be nasty. Just let it play out and enjoy the ride. Those of us that have seen this enough know when the shite is about to go down.

Hopefully, we do lack death.

But for lack of DEPTH, OL and Safety.

Now you gotta put some context behind this take what exactly are the positions we lack a ton of depth at ? This the deepest we’ve been at a lot of positions in the Brian Kelly era especially at cornerback , safety and defensive end. At corner you have delane, Pickett, stamps, woodland, Jackson Turner and Anding . All super talented guys
At safety you have proven transfers in haulcy and Cooley with high upside young players in spears , toviano and Joel Rodgers that’s 5 guys plus a tru freshman with a lot of ability in jhase Thomas

Offensive line is more unproven than lacking depth. You have two 5 star freshmen in curne/thomas, two of the most highly sout after transfers in Moore and Thompson, at tackle you have a former 5 star sliding in to start at Tackle in Weston Davis and a former top 100 kid in Tyree Adams at the other tackle spot. DJ Chester may not be a popular name on this site but he’s playing out of position at center. Not only is he a much more natural fit at guard but he was a former top 60 overall recruit you absolutely have a lot of bodies and talent on the O-line. Mgungba and Echos are also other names you have

Linebacker is def young but theirs a reason baker didn’t go in the portal to grab a guy there. He loves the young puppies from the 25 class behind weeks and Keys. We signed 5 LB’s who were top 300 overall recruits in Charles Ross, Jaiden braiker, Zach weeks, Kylan Moses and Cj Jimcoiley. Someone from that group will emerge as a difference maker year 1 imo

The majority of LSU fans think LSU is always disrespected and overlooked. Those purple tinted glasses are tough to see through sometimes.

This is arguably the deepest safety room we’ve had in the bk era I disagree with that. You brought in haulcy and Cooley. Behind them you have a high upside top 60 overall recruit kid who’s ready to take the next step in Dashawn spears that kid may end up starting over Cooley imo. You also have toviano and Joel rogers both guys apparently had good camps. Thats 5 guys the staff feels good about.

In terms of the o line it feels folks are confusing unproven with lack of depth. The room is filled with top 100 kids and former 5 stars paired with two impact transfers we absolutely do not lack depth on the line

Absolutely. This roster is stacked.

They’re judging us based off of the last two years results, which is always silly. It’s a different year and every team is different. This why preseason polls are retarded.

The overall talent is in line with the past. The issue is the spots where talent/experience is lacking.
The OL with an already hesitant running qb who tends to see ghosts. Could work out spectacularly with shades of Burrow or turn horrendous where Nuss reminds us so clearly of Jarrett Lee.
The WR room isn't proven. Just a bunch of talented kids and expensive transfers who have flashed.
The DL is essentially a completely thrown together unit again with talent but far from proven.
The LB depth is putrid.
Until the secondary plays like they're at LSU I refuse to believe it. Can't blame talent now Corey.
Our "Star" hasn't performed like one for 2 years.

We could be a playoff team, we should be a playoff team. We spent big to ensure that we are. Failure isn't an option but quite easy to see possible. We have lots of questions. Also lots of talent. It's on the coaches now. No more next year. No more excuses. Lots of expectations.

I'm hopeful but I don't trust this staff to perform. They've yet to earn that here.

Nah they just want to see it happen on the field. These people are terrible judges of talent.

We’re young at LB but the depth isn’t putrid. Baker is a lb guy he went out there and signed arguably the top lb class in the country. 5 top 300 overall recruits at that psorion in Ross, weeks, Moses, Jimcoiley and braiker. I’m confident one of those talented guys will emerge as part of the rotation especially Ross. He was an early enrollee composite high 4 star and has ridiculous sideline to sideline speed

After the last 3 season-openers, I think the media has good reason to overlook us.
