Let’s compare his career to Gale Sayers

Sayers has 68 career games over 7 seasons. In reality it is 5 only seasons because he only played in 2 games each of his 6th and 7th season.

He had 4956 yards and 48 TDS

Sims has 60 career games over 5 seasons. What really was 4 seasons because one was the 1982 strike season which was 9 games and his last season 1984 where he got hurt in the 8th game.

He had 5106 yards and 47 TDS.

I have no dog in this hunt, I just saw YouTube video that talked about how Sims career ended so suddenly and they mentioned how Sims and Sayers stats compared.

He should be but they won't put him in. Sims wasn't great, he was better than that. Dude was smooth as butta. With today's medical advancements in knee surgeries , he probably could have made a comeback. It wasn't to be and that's a shame for all the fans who didn't see him play. He and Tony Dorsett just glided down field.

Sayers would have had a full career today, as well. He was just born too soon.

Sayers was more of a media phenomenon during his rookie season with the 6 touchdown game plus he could return kicks.

Billy had the karate kick that stood out but otherwise he was in Detroit. You could compare him with Terrell Davis too. TD had the Super Bowl wins, even though he missed some of one with a migraine. Being on NFL Network in retirement didn't hurt either.

The selection committee is stacked with media people so having a high profile will always help and Billy did not.

That’s why it’s the hall of fame and not the hall of stats

Gale Sayers was Barry Sanders before Barry Sanders. He might be the most talented runner the league has ever seen.

Mike Ditka said he never saw anyone who could run with a football under his arm like Gale Sayers could

Yep, watch his highlights. His cuts were insane, so smooth,. Also, look at Hugh McElhenny highlights, jaw dropping.

Sayers was ALL PRO 1st team in each of his five seasons. The dude was special, like really really special. Along with Barry Sanders, his highlights are the ones I watch on youtube more than any other RBs.

Sims was a good RB, maybe very good, but this isn't particularly close.

The year Sayers had his first knee injury, he missed the last four games and most of a fifth, and was still second in the NFL in rushing.

Most remember Sims college career, but he was a beast in the NFL for the time he was there, just on crappy team.
