Dupuytren's Contracture - aka "Claw Hand" syndrome

My buddy came down with this in both hands. He's getting some surgeries this Fall. It sucks because he's a musician, and also having claw hands is repulsive.
Anyway, he wants to know if he can make any money in the meantime at any of the jack shacks around ATL. Is that something that degenerates would pay extra for?

I had a patient one time in med school, who told me that he popped his with his multitool.
I would not recommend that professionally.

I have this condition. Its best to skip surgery, just have a doc use a needle to break up the connective tissue. Lets you extend your hand back out.

It’s happening on my left hand just below my ring and middle finger. My dad had this same issue. I’m 54 now. An orthopedic surgeon I work with said he wouldn’t treat it until it started to affect me being able to extend my finger. I know there is some medication that can be injected into the site to slow the progression.

I have it in both hands. Ortho said not to worry about it until you can’t lay your palm completely flat on a surface.

It’s hereditary and comes from Scandinavian background mostly. Relative had it and had it in both hands and banged it on something and broke one hand loose.

Weird that I saw a commercial on TV for that just yesterday. I'd never heard of it.
