DE Gabe Northern
DT Michael Brockers
DT Leonard Marshall

You guys are working hard tonight but a great thread nonetheless.
Only thing I have to add is I would take Herb Tyler again as my QB in a today’s style offense that features his skill set a bit better.
He showed flashes but I think he certainly had All American talent.

Mekhi Wingo was an all american the season Maason smith went down wasn’t? I remember no one talking about the fact he was LSUs only all american that year
Yeah he was a third team AP all-american in 2022. I believe the Wikipedia list is missing that. Not sure if any other publications gave him the same honor, but I believe that counts

Eric Hill not being an AA is a travesty

Solid list. I would replace Jay Ward with either Brandon Taylor or Jack Hunt.

Brandon Taylor is very underrated

Can’t believe Whitworth wasn’t

I added Wingo to the list. For some reason he is omitted from the list in the LSU football media guide but his bio on lsusports.net does say that he was 3rd team all American.

I’ll edit for a fuller list later, but some guys who jump out for me who maybe hadn’t been listed
QB - JaMarcus Russell
RB - Kevin Faulk*
WR - Dwayne Bowe
WR - Michael Clayton
OT - Ciron Black
DE - Danielle Hunter
LB - Kelvin Sheppard
S - Mark Roman
* Faulk ran for 1000 yards 4 straight years and was the engine of our offense. He deserves more than just All Purpose IMO

That team would win a natty every year.

Good list. These all-time lists over several eras of football are so hard to do. I tried to avoid recency bias and probably still had a bit of that creep into my decisions. I considered every one of those you listed and others that have been mentioned above and easily could have included them.

Jack Hunt.
I think you mean Jack “Mr. Bluegrass Miracle“ Hunt. His catch in Kentucky should’ve made him an All-American all by itself.

Leonard Marshall, Ramsey Dardar, Bill Elko
Hodson at QB, Harvey Williams and Jacob Hester at RB
Justin Jefferson and Dwayne Bowe at WR (DJ Chark as the 3rd).

One of my favorites was inside linebacker and run-stuffer extraordinaire Toby Caston. I always looked forward to seeing other teams get into a third-and-one situation in anticipation of the collision that was about to take place when they tried to run for a first down.
