I’ve been looking into a trip to Red Rocks for the past year. My friends that have been say it’s amazing and I can’t imagine it not being.
The ticket prices for any decent show are obnoxious. I’m sure I will end up sucking it up and paying for them, but I was wanting to see what other outdoor or semi outdoor places you all think are special.

That's pretty much the going rate for all concerts these days. A decent band at a small venue is gonna set you back $100+ fees. A big head liner at an outdoor venue/amphitheater is gonna cost $250+ fees. I've come to accept it and pick and choose who I want to see and where.

Most ticket prices are obnoxious today. It is what it is.

Who was there last week for the Incubus show? Amazing place and the sound is unexplainable!

It’s an incredibly cool venue and location. Worth the money to see a good concert there for sure.

Absolutely loved Red Rocks! Some experiences in life, cost doesn't matter.

Ford amphitheater vail>>>>>>>Colorado springs.

Only place even close to the red rocks experience is the Gorge, but that place is huge compared to red rocks.

Red Rocks is incredible. I’m going to the Gorge next month for the first time and I can’t wait.

Flew from Atlanta to Colorado to see Brit Floyd at Red Rocks twice.

Absolutely amazing place, amazing show and amazing trip. Made my trips 5 day trips and visited Rocky Mountain Park as well.

Would go back again in a heartbeat

We do the same every time we travel to see a concert. We get to travel, see the show, and do a lot of hikes. We try to do one of these type trips at least once a year.

What all did you enjoy doing and recommend at RMNP?

We honestly did a lot of just riding and looking. We did some of the short hikes up to the water falls which was nice. So on the last day, We got all excited and did the Ouzel Falls which is about 5 miles in and about killed our old asses. Amazing trip and I am so glad we did it but we hurt for a few days after.

RMNP was not crowded. When we left the west Denver area, we rode up through the ski resort area and came in the park on the west side. That was a nice ride.

Iconic venues are going to be expensive. Should that be surprising? I saw Tool at Red Rocks in 2001. Still have the Tshirt. Was it expensive? Sure, but I still talk about it and completely worth it.

It’s an experience. We took a party bus from Denver which was fun. The biggest surprise for me was how comfortable I was during the sold out show. The way the terraced seating is constructed is different than most sports or amphitheater venues. Lots of leg/standing room at your seat. Also concessions never seemed too crowded.

If you’re looking for unique venues, The Caverns in Pelham TN isn’t outdoor but ain’t necessarily indoor either. Tickets look reasonable.

Gem Lake - Short but steep hike that overlooks Estes Park. Small parking area, but it is near the town instead of within the park, so you don't have as many people and don't have to deal with the Timed Entry stuff.

Trail Ridge Road - Just drive and stop when shite looks cool.

Ute Trail - Trailhead is above 12k. Very little elevation gains because the hike is along Tombstone Ridge. It is just nothing but views, wind, and marmots. (There is another section of the Ute Trail by the Alpine Visitor Center. That is not the same.)

Wild Basin - Hike until you want to turn around. Beautiful forest hike that follows the St. Vrain River. Waterfalls and alpine lakes if you want to go far enough.

Glacier Gorge to the Loch - Forest trail that passes a huge waterfall (can't recall the name), then breaks above the treeline toward the Loch and eventually Sky Pond.

Lily Lake - Just like the name implies, it is a short and easy walk. There are trails that go back away from the lake that eventually hit some amazing views. Good place to just kick around a bit. Climb Lily Mountain if you think you are up to it (about 1k elevation gain).

Sprague Lake - Another lake stroll. This one has handicap accessible back country campsites, which is interesting. This (and Sheep Lakes) are the two places we have most often seen moose.

Eat at Ed's Cantina in town.

If you are camping and need a shower, Village Laundry has pay showers.

If you are there for a Sunday or Monday evening during the summer, hit Bond Park for Cowboy Singalong.

The Windjammer is an underrated gem on Isle of Palms in Charleston

Have seen Mt. Joy, Randy Houser, Dispatch, Everclear, moe. and a bunch of others there. Can never turn down an invite for a concert there even if I’m not really familiar who is playing.

And Red Rocks is amazing. Take a party bus from downtown out there. It’s BYOB.
