The National High School Football Hall of Fame could soon have a permanent home, and New Orleans has emerged as a possible landing spot.

The organization, which inducted its inaugural class in 2023, has operated for the past three years out of Canton, Ohio, which also is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

But now, the high school hall of fame is looking for a city that is “ready to fully embrace and elevate the high school football experience on a national level,” Hall of Fame executive planning director and spokesman David Brown said Thursday in a release.

Other cities under consideration are Biloxi, Mississippi, along with Pittsburgh, Fort Worth (Texas), Miami, Los Angeles and Brook Park, Ohio, where the Cleveland Browns are set to relocate in three years.

“We’re doing our due diligence,” Brown said. “This is more than a move — it’s about finding a true partner in celebrating the history, diversity, and heart of high school football.”

I would think Fort Worth would probably be better just because high school football is a beast in Texas compared to Louisiana

As longs as Al Bundy from Polk High is represented with his own wing of the museum, I'm okay with it.

I don’t envision this doing well in LA. Too much other stuff to do and hs football isn’t the most popular of those things. I think NOLA, Fort Worth, and Ohio are probably the 3 best options. Biloxi has the right demographics but is just too small, I think.

You’re not wrong, but Texas is widely considered top dog in HS football when you consider the emphasis upon the sport. Yes, California has great teams, so does Florida and the rest of the Southeast, but there’s a reason Friday Night Lights was always associated with Texas. It’s the 6-man game all the way to a 20,000 seat 6A stadium. It’s poor towns shutting down and riding buses 30 miles down the road for a rivalry that’s been played for a hundred years. It’s the birthplace of the Wishbone, and one of the pioneering states of the modern passing game. It’s state title games with crowds of 50,000. It’s country strong versus inner city speed. It’s Patrick Mahomes, Drew Brees, Matt Stanford. It’s Heisman central with Murray, Mayfield, RG3, Manziel, Davey O’Brien, Doak, Earl Campbell, Billy Sims, Tim Brown, Andre Ware, Ty Detmer.

Historically, HSFB was associated with Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas. I think Texas is the only one of that trio still going at an elite level.

I’m biased, I get it. Sure, you can get GREAT HSFB in California, LA, Georgia, Florida…but if you want to experience the game at its best in terms of talent + atmosphere and experience + pageantry, I don’t see any state comparing.
