Best band to come along since the 90's. I've been waiting for a band like this for 25+years.
Starburster

I love Fontaines DC......but I assume you've listened to the IDOLS? And really, they are just selling geezer music to us geezers. Not that there's anything wrong with that. And I guess you should listen to Sleaford Mods.

Agree 100%. Best band to come along in a long time. Caught them in Nola several months ago and the show was great.
Televised Mind is another banger from them.

I'm going to give them another listen. I tried to like them a while back, mostly after seeing people on this board hype them up.
I couldn't really get into it, but sometimes it takes a while for a group to grow on me. I will give their music another run through. I need some new music to listen to.

I've given it another listen and still can't get into it. Too much white-boy rapping and talk-singing.

Saw Fontaines earlier this year at a small venue. Great show; Starburster was amazing. They've got some of that early-era Stone Roses/Oasis magic in em for sure. They remind me of early Kasabian as well.

They don't remind me of Oasis at all. Oasis has great vocals and splendid riffs and guitar work. Fontaines DC is like club music with the Geico Gecko talking over it.

Cool. I wasn't referring only to their overall sounds, but Oasis has made club music before as well. Maybe you should listen to Columbia some time if you haven't.

I've listened to their entire catalog, including the original studio version of Columbia, along with the live and remixed versions.
Sounds nothing like Fontaines.
I don't find Columbia to be very different from most of the Oasis songs. Still has solid vocals and guitar work, which is a signature. No rapping or talk-singing as is common with Fontaines.

Gotcha. As you were, fanboy.

Oasis isn't in my top 50, although I do like them. You're the one throwing out random songs assuming I'm not familiar with them.

It was just a cheeky reference to one of Liam's solo albums i.e. a joke.
I'm not the one trying to debate with someone on the internet who made one comment comparing some bands. Music is far too subjective to be so dismissive. Fontaines remind me of The Cure at times as well. Bold statement here I'm sure.

Hey now let’s not get carried away!
I think they have massive potential. Romance is a 10 IMO and Skinty Fia is great as well. I predict wide success for them.
But I’ve never compared them to anyone certainly not Oasis or definitely not The Cure
They have too much of an Irish accent

Moreso the "poppier" side of The Cure in the 80s or whenever. Both love some acoustic 12-string.
As for Oasis, it was more about their "swag" (dumb word i know) and charisma more than anything else, especially between the two frontmen along with Ian Brown. I know Fontaines have been around for a while now, but I'm late to the party.
They didn't blow me away live, but I'd see em again but in a bigger venue which will be the only choice next time with their growing popularity.

I thought that they don't make music videos any more?

I can't get in to them. I didn't realize that was them on the Mobland theme song.. like the show, don't care for the song...
I listened to the links above and none of that grabs my attention..
Ive heard a lot of people rave about them though...

Same. I've tried. People whose tastes I respect are nutso about them, but I just can't find any part of it that grabs me.

The Spotify algorithm apparently agrees with you. I was just listening to an Oasis song and the algorithm followed it up with a Fontaines DC song.
