Yah Fears has been a mid 20's 3 point shooter for 4 years now. And people like to compare his handles to Kyrie, but that's strictly homerism. I'm rooting for the kid, but it's possible that he's going to be Killian Hayes minus defensive size and talent.

Far from a slam dunk pick. Too bad we don't have our old shooting coach to help fix the weakest part of his game.

Are yall really thinking fears is a bust. Yall are watching summer league incorrectly. Look at effort and intent for rookies. Not numbers

Fears will be fine. His shot mechanics are good. Needs to get bigger and stronger and play at a calmer pace. He’s just doing too much during SL which is what every player does.

A tiny guard that can't shoot the long ball (it's a larger sample size than you think), is historically a concern. He would be overcoming the odds if he even became a successful 6th man. I'm rooting for him and he might be able to do it, but this board acted like we just drafted the next Dame or Kyrie when we got him. He isn't anywhere close to either as a prospect. He is going to have to develop a ton to become a net neutral player. He's 2 years away. I don't expect him to play a ton this season considering we will need to try to win basketball games due to the trades we made. I expect Jose to play more than Fears.

So another project that will bust, we give him away for a 2nd in 2 years then he becomes closer to an All Star.

For the record I think he'll be a great player. I'm just pointing to the fact that the majority on this board talks about Queen like he's a bum. He's going to be a stud in this league. I feel that Fears has the more growing to do between the two. He also has the higher upside.

4 years ago he was 14. I mean can we let these people grow first before we start thinking about how bad they are?

I didn't say he was bad, I was just pointing out his 28% at Oklahoma wasn't a fluke, rather a trend. There are plenty of 14-18 year olds that shoot 35% plus from high school and college 3 point lines. His shot mechanics don't look terrible, but his results are horrific.

It's a make or miss league. For this pick to hit, he's got to be a 38% 3 point guy that is relatively efficient off the dribble, bc he is not an elite rim guy like a Kyrie or a young Russ Westbrook. He's also not a PG or mid range maestro like a Chris Paul. It's going to 3 point line or bust for Fears, especially if playing off guys like Zion, Queen, and Missi.

Hope for the best but the franchise is a dysfunctional mess from the top on down.

I’ve seen enough to know this draft will be an afterthought in 2 years.

Do yall realize how crazy it is to make statements like this about 18 year olds in SL?

It’s the same concerns he had from high school and college. And the only reason you and this board is so calm is because McNamara has an agenda of trying to bash Queen and most of you take his word as gospel.

lol that is a crazy thing to say but I expect it from you. This board hates Macnamara and Mac HATES Queen. Hates him.

I’m concerned but and I do think that we should have concerns. My point was about CAREER projections of an 18 year old in SL are dumb.

I think it’s clear however that neither guy will be able to contribute early season.

He flashed, but a “stud” based off what we’ve seen in SL is a stretch. He’s got a ton to work on and the effort he plays with and lack of conditioning highlights the work ethic concerns going into the draft.

Fears hasn’t shown any standout trait, which is an even bigger concern. Of course he’s young, but all of these guys are. It’s summer league. It’s going to take him a while to develop, and I’m not sure if this is the organization that’s going to be able to do it.

The reason why people are more concerned about Queen than fears is because things like finishing at the rim and shooting can be developed.

Conditioning, motor, and effort are internal. You have to want to do those things yourself

Darius Garland was awful his rookie year. Just remember PG is the toughest position to transition when they get to the league.

Shooting is always going to be up and down for the kid early on. That should be expected. Guys who aren't physically elite will generally take time.

Nothing I said was crazy. I just don’t like how y’all are attacking Queen but assume everything is going to be ok with Fears. Facts are there are concerns which we hope our coaching staff can fix. Same with Queen.

And no, I don’t take much stock in Summer League.

Most of this board can’t stand mac. He left this board because he was so butthurt about no one agreeing with him
