What is the reason wee don’t have a juco team in Louisiana. LSUE or LSUA would be perfect

No Juco's in Louisiana, just community colleges. Im unaware of any CC with a football team.

I didn’t look it up, but maybe half of the JUCO teams in Mississippi and Kansas are “Community Colleges” that play in the highest level of JUCO football.

Jones is the only JUCO(JCJC), every other 2 Year School is CC. The reason Louisiana doesn't have JUCO Football comes down to Finances, same reason UNO doesn't have a football team.

In Louisiana? No, but many other places yes. The entire state of Mississippi has community colleges with football teams.

Semantics

NJCAA Division II College World Series Champions last 5 years

2021 Louisiana State University at Eunice
2022 Pearl River Community College
2023 Heartland Community College
2024 Louisiana State University at Eunice
2025 Pasco-Hernando State College

Not 1 school with the word Junior College in there and 4 out of 5 community colleges

The reason La has very few JUCOs, and too many Universities, is because nearly all of them started as Juco. One by one the legislator approved them offering 4yr degrees then each eventually became a full university.

Recently Delgado CC tried offering 4yr degrees, not sure if it ever passed.

Mississippi has 14 Juco/ CC they are the same thing.
12 of the 14-play football. It is the best league in the country.
A college football program if ran properly at that level is a multimillion-dollar investment. In Mississippi each school has 55 full scholarship players and 45 of them must come from Mississippi. Great opportunity for local kids to play college ball and get a free education.

Cons are building all the infrastructure dorms weight facilities nutrition staffs and multiple other things that each school in MS already has.

But the ultimate positive of the system is you as a regular student pay 4 grand a semester and that covers room board and tuition.

I saw someone with a T-shirt a few years ago that was pretty funny, it said: BPCC Football, Undefeated since 1967. BPCC is Bossier Parish Community College. It made me laugh since they have never had a football team but essentially the statement it true.

It is because there is a lack of organization and order in LA higher ed. I grew up in KY. Probably 30+ yrs ago UK took over the CC system and has 17 feeder CCs that have accreditation and thus courses taken at the CCs transfer pretty much anywhere. LA’s CC/Tech system control is spread all over the various state 4 yr institutions and no continuity. My wife retired from this system and has done accreditation audits out of state. LA schools are not bad schools, they just have no consistent support.

A CC is a JUCO. It's like calling a junior high school a middle school. Same thing, different words.

I got stupider reading this thread. For actual info:

quote:

The Louisiana Community Colleges Athletic Conference (LCCAC) is a member conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). It, along with the MACJC, are members of Region XXIII (or Region 23).

quote:

The LCCAC currently has five full members, all are public schools:
