Shreveport to Milan in October for fall break on AA $754 /person(we'll upgrade to premium eco as we get closer)

1 day in Milan b/c last time we didn't get to go see the Duomo.
Train to Lugano and spend 2 days.
Train to Lucerne spend 2 days
fly home from Zurich.

she was close on biting but said no... maybe next year.

EDIT: 7/10/2025 13:25 - one of my hobbies at work is the google flights explore.. I just saw milan for $750 and built a trip out in 30 min with a few stops that looked cool or I eventually want to go.

1. We just got back from Scotland 2 weeks ago. (10 days)
2. Big ask for the grandparents to keep our daughter again
3. She's a school teacher and coming back from jet lag straight to teaching isn't ideal.

Tell her to man up. She's not flying back from Tokyo. And, she'll have to be in teacher only attendance before the kids show up anyway.

Is she making that up, or have they said how tired your little goodie two shoes made them?

5 days in Europe with travel between cities and jet lag sounds like a horrific trip to me. Your wife made a good decision.

See if you can sell hiring someone to help them for a couple of hours a day to help with lunch, nap, bedtime. That may be your only hope.

It seems odd for her to mix the "hell" of EU/US jetlag with the real concern that the grandparents can't do it. She should have led with that. The more excuses people add on to a very simple problem makes it suspicious to paranoid people like me.

If you don't figure out a way to deal with this (whether it works this time or not), you won't be going on any spontaneous trips of any length until the kid is in school. The grandparents will be older every year, too. I'm not saying you have any hope this year, but women can take a long, long time to warm up to a non relative helping/doing overnights.

That’s a tough trip especially flying coach or even premium economy. The price difference between the two at one time wasn’t so bad. I’ve been looking recently at flights to Europe and the premium economy is now a lot more expensive than coach.

Ya it would have to be a straight shot London/Madrid and back kind of trip at 5 days. With the train travel how long are you in country doing stuff? 72 hours?

I'm with her, that's too much travel over a short period of time. I would just go to Montreal and Quebec City or at the very least stay in one city in Europe and day trip.

Sounds like Chicago.. never been and I'd fly up there for some deep dish pizza and some Art Deco buildings.

Worried me that you had the right city. The only Duomo that I have been to was in Florence. Didn't realize there was also one in Milan.
