Jay just won another Coach of the Year award from D1Baseball, to go along with Coach of the Year Award from American Baseball Coaches Association. Two national championships in three years. Best coach in college baseball. Dynasty builder. More natties and accolades to come. We are so fortunate to have him at LSU.

quote:

After leading LSU to its second national championship in three years, Jay Johnson is the D1Baseball Coach of the Year — for the second time. Johnson, who also won the award after guiding the Tigers to the 2023 College World Series title, is the first two-time winner of the Coach of the Year award, which dates back to the 2015 season.

This can't be real news. Vol Nation has been....until this mth....repeatedly proclaiming Tony V as the best college coach in the country.

Shows what the margin is between success and failure.

The whole baseball landscape was dirt at the time. You have to win more postseason games with smaller rosters against much better competition. Skip laid the foundation no doubt but my point of it being harder to win a championship is valid

My wife said, on the day we won the NC, that NOW the "JJ cannot get it done at LSU" people will shut up.

Criticize decisions JJ makes from time to time, sure. But no more questioning can he get it done at LSU.

Knowing what I know about the man, I laugh to myself wondering how Skip would handle having to deal with NIL packages. He'd a probably worked it better than anybody but it would have given him ulcers.

Really happy for Jay and LSU fans.

I was fighting Jay criticizers hard these past three seasons. And yes, Jay had a ton of doubters even during the 23 season. It’s nice to know that stuff is gone for now. I remember a post about someone wanting DVH over Jay Johnson last season.

I also remember a post this season of someone laughing at the idea that Jay could be the best current college baseball coach. I have been saying since 23 there isn’t a single coach at any level I would take over Jay Johnson.

I will never forget the look Jay Johnson had after losing to USM in 22. He looked like it meant a lot to him and he was about to go on a mission to improve the team. And he did. I had so much belief in him. It’s nice to see players like Beloso give Jay so much credit after winning a Championship. That’s another moment I’ll never forget. Beloso said he was just getting started and I believed his confidence in Jay.
