Eliminate it all together.

The fish meal plant in Empire has to bring in hundreds of foreign visa workers to keep the place running during the pogey season. So it's probably less than 100 actual full time year round employees. Give each of them $100k buyout and some free job training. Send them up to the LNG plants or something. It would be chicken feed compared to the benefit to the ecosystem that drives the economy down there.

And as far as the Canadian company that owns the place? frick em. They can go bankrupt and go back to Canada.

I've been hearing and knowing about the mendhaden/pogey boat problem for decades, but I never knew it was foreign companies doing it. It thought it was American companies which made for some gray area. If it's foreign companies doing this shite, that removes all gray area. Ban that fricking shite. NOAA says I can't catch a red snapper because they think they know how many snapper are down there. Well, there's the legal precedent. Ban those motherfrickers.

Why did you link 3 articles that heavily quoted CCA? I thought they didn’t do anything about the pogies.

daybrook owns the processing plant in empire, daybrook is a subsidiary of oceana group headquartered in South Africa. The other major player is omega protein, they process in abbeville. Omega is a US company

Omega’s parent company is Canadian. Shell Oil has operations in the US, but it’s still a foreign owned company.

A year ago or so I read that Jeff Landry’s brother was a lobbyist for the pogey industry but can’t find that article now…but Jeff sure hasn’t done a damn thing to help us.

Are there any sources besides this video? I would love this, but they are in deep with the politicians.

The video was posted by Trump on his truth social account. I’d consider that legitimate !

Wake me up when it happens. Too many empty promises to count.
