Flooding in Kerr County

I’ve spent a fair amount of time at the Kerrville research center, and a lot of the places in that general area over the years so I’m assuming there’s probably a few OB’ers who live and hunt in that area as well. I hope you guys are OK and send out as much prayers to those poor folks as possible. I did some research on the water rising and it went from 3 feet to about 30+ feet in an hour.

I was supposed to be in the area this Thursday but my dog had emergency surgery so I canceled my plans.

I was scrolling news and some photos of the missing popped up. I looked away as fast as I could. I don't think I ever want to see them. Just gutting.

Been texting my crowd in that area. Some have not responded. One customer told us all his blinds n feeders in that area are gone. Camera got some pics.

The Llano River runs through my lease over there. Think we were far enough away that it won’t be a problem.

Devastating. Old timers in the area don’t remember the Guadalupe flooding like that. No one was prepared.

I saw a video of a cabin floating down the river full of some kids walking around with flashlights, fortunately they were rescued. Of all the things that went thru my mind sending my daughter to camps, I don’t think flooding ever crossed my mind.
I really don’t think you can plan to handle a 27’ rise in 45 minutes. Might be able to write it, but executing it would be difficult, especially in the early morning hours.

Video of river
I saw a longer version of this video. It showed the river rising. In the beginning it showed the river so low you could see the bed at what looked like 20 or 30 feet below. Then you could see a little more water flowing almost like a tide starting to move it. The video showed the water getting higher and higher. From what appeared to be 20 to 30 feet below the bridge, the river eventually overlapped the bridge and they had to closed it. I believe it took about an hour for the river to rise that much.
It was amazing. I think I saw it on the Dallas NBC news. If I can find the longer version I will post it.

It means nothing in comparison to the loss of life, but I imagine high fences suffered damage in the area. Lilkely many critters escaped.
