I always wonder the thoughts and the feelings of the very young founding fathers as they were about to change the course of history forever. Were they excited? Fearful of what was to come? Did they have any idea on the future impact of their decisions? It has always intrigued me to know how these 48 hours played out in the minds of our country’s first patriots.

It's even better now that the BBB passed. Progstains are taking this harder than I thought.

The fireworks have started and will continue until after midnight and my wife is out of town.

Now, i won't feel so badly about cranking the bass amp up and hammering out some Lynyrd, Eagles, and Toby Keith full blast.

the vote scene in John Adams captures it as well as anything I’ve ever seen. they weren’t unaware of how astronomically huge of moment it was. and even the most ardent supporters of independence were terrified of what might come

got damn that show was phenomenal

I can't wait until 250 next year. I hope Trump has a big arse military parade and triggers all the progressives.

It’s a great day

Watched Reagan’s speech earlier about how anyone from any corner of the earth can become an American and it absolutely choked me up

Beautiful country we live in. I’m very grateful.

The New York delegation voted for independence with a British invasion fleet off Manhattan. They were fearful.

Was just reading about how the Marquis de Lafayette is buried in American soil in France. Fuggin legend.

I can tell you one thing. They could’ve saved this country a whole lot of problems if they would’ve immediately ended slavery and put all the Africans on a boat back home

When the Germans invaded France and took Paris in WWII, they allowed Lafayette’s tomb to not be molested. Even after the US was in the war 1.5 years later.

They respected the Marquis as a soldier.

He was an interesting cat.

There could have been no union, but I get what you're saying.

In 2019, I had the pleasure of touring the Federal Courthouse in Shreveport with my son’s Cub Scout Troop. In the beginning, we attended several hearings/sentences. After the session ended, the Judge took a few minutes to address our Cub Scout Pack and reflected on how one of his favorite duties was being able to give the oath of allegiance to citizens from all over the world that wanted to become American Citizens. I always think of those people who worked so hard and accomplished their goals, and that always makes me a little misty eyed. Were the country that people strive to become a part of, and I always remember the ones who did it the right way.
