Not looking to limit out but just looking for some where to take the grand kids and show them about where the great food we eat in Louisiana comes from.

** Also not looking to Bogart anyone's honey hole. Just would like to not have to drive all the way down to Grand Isle.

I love these type posts. Ask about crabbing and give no clue where you are located to try to keep it close.

Lake Pontchartrain may be a good option, but if you live in Lafayette, then it's pointless.

Look up Price Lake Rd. at Rockefeller. Get there early and Drive all the way to the end of the road and there are piers on both sides of the road to crab off of. They have port-o-potty’s if the kids are young and pee a lot. Be sure to bring leg quarters and string as well. Sometimes they’ll get in the nets, sometimes hand lining works better.

Note, you can’t drive down Price Lake Rd until legal sunrise.

Bonnet Carrie spillway near Norco. Go to the end of the road . There is a sea wall near the lake and parking. Chances are some folks will already be there. It’s a little early, but they usually bite on strings there. A small boat is better to get away from anyone else.
It’s not a secret spot . The whole area knows.
PS- fish the land and lake side.

drop nets are a little bit of a PIA unless you are dropping and lifting straight down into the water from a pier or elevated bulkhead. They are harder to keep in the net if you are pulling back to you on a bank. I’d go with string/turkey necks and a dip net

It's been a minute since I threw a cast net, might bring it along. Seems like I always used to pull up a couple when I'd cast for bait fish.

Kind of hard to do is a lot of people are in the area.

Tie the chicken necks on to fishing line on push button Zebco type rod reel combo. Have one kid reel up very slowly when you see the line go tight and have another kid put the scoop net underneath when crab surfaces they won't let go. Kids will absolutely love this!

Sounds like a good operation to keep them busy and engaged.

Kids hell I love it LOL. This is how I do it except I use a spinning reel but same principle. The rod and reel gives the kids something to do other than wait which most aren't good at....something about crabs amazes kids though!

Island road in PAC. If you have a pirogue or canoe, just to get about 10-20 yards from the road is great. Or you can walk in the water.

He's right about it not being a secret spot. I've been there a few times and it wasn't great. Loads of people usually seperated by race and they're not exactly welcoming, got a lot of funny looks walking past other groups. Also didnt' catch much fish or crabs there. And it's filthy - trash everywhere. Unreal how folks expect the earth to produce fish and crabs for them when they toss their beer cans and wrappers all over the place.

Maybe things have changed but I have no reason to go back there.

This is disappointing thought not surprising. Some people just suck. Between this and the people trying to fight you because you may catch a fish or crab that they feel is theirs simply because they happen to be in the vicinity is the reason I quit going to public access places many many years ago.

It's a shame that degenerates take over just about everything, and ruin it.

PAC is probably the best spot for that.

Grand Isle if you want to get in the water.

North shore has been hot though, but it's more hit or miss. Some days they are all over my dock, some days its like I live on a poorly managed neighborhood pond.
