What year did these lazy, worthless, thieves stop writing separate bills?

It's beyond time to hold these idiots accountable. Get off your lazy asses and write topic specific bills. These massive bills like this contain so much pork, fraud, etc. that both sides just pass it "to see what's in it".
When are we going to have enough of this?
And again, what year did this start?

You have to do it this way to avoid the 60 vote requirement

To be fair, Trump from the beginning pushed for “one big beautiful bill.”

Became more prevalent in the 80’s, but almost every appropriation bill since 2012 has been omnibus.

You think it would have been better to do a bunch of bills with this bunch?

My question though, is, do they have to do it this way? That's my point. There's so much shite in these bills, that they barely pass and only serve as political fodder for either side.

When is the last time they passed all of the budget bills separately?

There are 13 required spending bills the House must pass to fund fedgov. The omnibus approach is used to get non-spending bills by the filibuster in the Senate as was mentioned

I would guess the 90s when Newt was speaker

Nothing would ever get passed that way. Imagine if you had 30 small bills go through the gauntlet that this bill has. It would never get done. Maybe that would be a good thing if less got done in Washington but Pandora’s box has already been opened.

So people like Rand can get money for projects no one cares about and the dems can get their retarded shite.

quote:This is a lazy argument, pass single subject bills do create true voting records for legislators. If you make Dems vote no to cut funding to illegals or no on boarder security, or vote to allow men in women’s spaces you can win elections forever and then you get 60 votes that way, or they have to vote with the GOP because in purple states they won’t be reelected m.

We live in the age of governing by EO and massive, pork-filled omnibus bills that no one bothers to read. Our Legislature is useless.

And why do they put stuff in a reconciliation bill that they KNOW won't be allowed because of the byrd rule?
Just pretending to serve us.

Living through a bunch of Dem Congress terms, yes. This omnibus BS has to go. But they’ll never pass a rule to limit their own gravy train.
