Turned on Atlanta. Shitty low HP drafting track now. Saw this new in season playoff bracket NASCAR came up with to liven things up. Big wreck knocks out half the field renders bracket worthless.

Hard to believe how awesome NASCAR used to be back when it focused on racing and competition not gimmicks.

Upvote because I agree as a whole, but weird timing posting this after a spectacular race. What an ending! Chase Elliot

I would say boxing has sabotaged itself way more than NASCAR. Boxing was one of the most popular sports into the ‘90s and then became completely irrelevant with too many belts and organizations, top fighters refusing to fight each other, promotional and network wars, insane PPV prices for shitty cards, etc…

That was the best race of the year! Passing every fricking lap, what more can you ask? For a plate track its now better than Daytona. Sorry, but true. Daytona is a parade, this was actual racing lap after lap.

I do agree with the overall sentiment though. Nascar has really ruined what used go be exciting racing. Tonight was an exception not the rule

Part of the problem with NASCAR is the old drivers (Earnhardt Sr, Bill Elliot, Darrell, Petty) all came up poor and raced for pride to put food on the table.

It was live or die and caused all the tension and fighting.

Today's drivers were all born with a silver spoon in their mouth and daddy's money so they just want a participation trophy.

Not sure why you're getting red arrows.

Universal DH, excessive interleague play, watered down postseason, letting the Dodgers cheat the luxury tax while vetoing other teams doing the same thing, three outcome baseball....

The Indycar split was more disastrous.

I think the casual NASCAR fan early on was only there for the party. As prices etc shot through the roof, they moved on

Peak NASCAR was in the mid 2000s. The stock market collapse in 2008, introduction of the COT, lack of personality by the drivers, sponsor/driver relations became less fun (think of all those funny NASCAR commercials during the peak), gimmicks like the chase all negatively affected the sport.

Funny you say this because I agree with you but I vividly remember during this timeframe that fans were vocal about how the sport was changing and not like it was in the 90’s.

Atlanta has arguably produced the best racing since it got resurfaced.

The support of the bogus Bubba W claim killed NASCAR. Go woke, go broke
