Had a group of culture touched “teenagers” ask me two years in a row for donations for their AAU shite.
It’s a scam btw if anyone didn’t know

I agree. It’s crazy how parents think they should beg other people to pay for their kids activities. People have no shame nowadays.

I will drive to a a less convenient store if I pull up and there are beggers out front. They are almost always at rouses on 22 in Mandeville.
Strangely enough, they're never at whole foods

If you don't donate, Meighsynn won't get the newest Marucci bat and will never win the u10 Southeast Western division little league world series

Even worse are the mom's asking on facebook to "sponsor" their outfits.

I have no problem with groups trying to raise money, but I don't like setting up tables by the entrance and exit begging for a free handout. How about get all the kids together to do chores for money. If a kid asked if he could do some work around my house for a donation I would gladly do that. Or maybe they sell tickets to a BBQ where the kids prep, serve, and clean up. Money for Nothing is seldom appreciated.

I paid for all of my kids’ athletic/dance/cheer stuff without ever asking for any donations from anyone else.
Same thing with their schooling (raffles/chocolate bar sales/wrapping paper, etc). I straight-up paid for whatever they were obligated to sell and walked away from selling the shite.
So far, since I don’t owe anyone for helping me, the global score is still even.
I don’t patronize places where they let beggars set up shop by the doors for teams.

Believe it or not, it actually works. There's people out there who will donate. Even if it's only 1% of the people on your Facebook feed. That's money that wouldn't have been collected if that post wasn't made. They do it because it raises money. It's the same reason junk mail still exists. A roofing company can send out 10,000 flyers and if they get just two customers from it, it was worth it.

A few years ago I had a kid.. I say kid.. Teenager I guess.. knock on my door and ask if I wanted to donate to the football team. I know the coach.. So I said "I didn't know yall were looking for donations. I talk to coach all the time" I had my phone in my hand and I said "let's give him call".. Kid said "I gotta go" and took off. And I let people around me know that if people ever come ask you for donations for their HS team they are scamming...
If your team/organization, etc needs money then earn it. Offer a service or ask me if I want to buy a dinner. If you are too lazy to do something for the money then I am too lazy to give it to you.

Exactly. Get some of these cheer squads to put on bikinis and wash my car. Get some of these strong young men to come mow my lawn and clean my gutters.

I despise begging for money. I would buy everything my kids were required to sell. It’s one thing if you are raising money for a kid with cancer or something legitimate. I’m not begging for that crap.

The demographic that does this have scamming and bullshite embedded into their DNA. I don't give them shite. I have my own kid's expensive extracurriculars to support.
