Book mark this post.

Yes, he has had great 'moments' with LSU. Not taking anything away from the young man.

Jones needs another year at LSU with a HEAVY focus on offense. If he leaves for the BIGS, his name will disappear unfortunately. No emotion, simple objectivity.

Hope and pray I am wrong if he leaves!

He will develop fine under the right coaching.

Selfishly, I hope he comes back, but as a Sr. he loses a lot of leverage if he doesn't have obvious improvement.

1) it isn't happening.
2) they have coaches in the minors
3) he can play more and develop in MiLB

Jones will not have the ability to negotiate a higher bonus from mlb teams if he stays.
The point if MiLB is to develop players. Signing a contract will not developmentally stall his career.

Jones isn’t making MLB regardless of if he gets coached by LSUs hitting coach next year or MiLB coaching. He certainly needs to go now & make the most signing bonus he can before moving on to other ventures.

There's a lot wrong with your post, but just considering the fact that the majority of players don't make it to the bigs, you're not really going out on a limb here.

What’s bad is, if he stays then whoever drafts him next season will low ball him just like they did with dugas, he’s gonna leave due to that reason imo, he has leverage if he leaves now.

So if he comes back and hits 35hr and has 105 RBI he will lose leverage? .....doubtful

Agree, he will leave. The point of my post is he is not ready.

It will all depend on where he is drafted and the signing bonus/contract for that spot.

If he thinks he can improve on that spot with one more year then he may come back. If not, then I support him signing and doing what’s best for him…..

Some of you have a very very distorted view of baseball NIL and what players are actually getting. We arent running $10M, or even $5m rosters guys.

We arent getting guys 7 figure 1 year deals

Jones probably barely made six figures of NIL this season if that.

Jones would be forfeiting hundreds of thousands of dollars by coming back for his senior season regardless of how well that season went.

I said this not too long ago as well.

Coming back to play for LSU with a decent NIL package and break the all time home run record will be better for his life long legacy than minor league ball for a few years

He loses leverage because he loses leverage, this isnt debatable. He cant say "I'm going back to college for another year" - its pro baseball or starting another career at that point and because of that teams will request you sign for peanuts if you want to sign with them. This is how the draft has worked forever now.

If you want a significant bonus you need have leverage, period.

He could come back and hit 50 homers and he’d still get less money. Thats how the mlb draft works
