Insurance agents are screwups and some advice.

Fired an agent because they screwed up and caused a lapse of coverage one one of my cars. Other multiple screwups in addition. OMV flagged me and took forever to fix.
Filed a complaint with the La Dept of Insurance on a separate screw up and they will be investigating it. Whatever. Just glad I’m causing that agent a headache responding to it.
The next agent just caused another lapse of coverage on 2 of my cars this week and caused a domino effect for my Hagerty and Umbrella coverages. OMV will flag me again. Not to mention I had no insurance for 8 days Liability or UM. Thank goodness no accidents in those 8 days.
WTF is wrong with these insurance agents? This stuff is baby shite simple and they frick up. Who gets hurt and have liability coverage risks? ME!!
I got another agent for my umbrella that can’t return a fricking email.
Getting it straight in the morning. Looks like I’m gonna have to fire another one.
Tip the corporate office help desk told me. Always call to handle insurance business. It’s all recorded what you wanted and agreed to but then again they could “lose” it. But I do have a small inconspicuous voice recorder when I go tomorrow. Louisiana is a one party State.
Watch yourself when dealing with the insurance agents. Protect yourself. They will lie like used car salesman.

Definitely more to this story
You're not "firing" anybody. You're switching

Sales side insurance all for their money of course. Back end all for not giving claims. The only way these days to get their attention unfortunately is your attorney.

What’s Hagerty coverage?

You sound like a complete frick up that doesn’t hold oneself accountable at all.

Walking into an agent's office and crapping on hi desk will get his attention too.
Ever since I retired my rebuttal techniques have gotten, shall we say, a tad unorthodox.

Don't the court cases after Katrina say that agents are order takers? You fricked up your order or, hopefully, cya'ed the agent in writing.

Sure I am. They lose the commissions.
They got tons of State Farm agents. Another one just up the road.

No. Told the guy cancel two because I was with Hagerty with those. Guy fricked up and canceled all four.
Again, call or record it yourself. State Farm corporate told me they would have fought coverage since it was he said/she said situation on what I wanted. So next time I should call so it’s recorded.

Catch them singing any one of hundreds of popular rap songs and they can’t avoid it, or repeating one of many of Dave Chappelle’s jokes.

Dumb insurance agents.

File a claim with their E&O carrier. If this is truly the insurance agents' faults, you have horrible luck when picking agents. Most of them don't frick around when it comes to that stuff. Or you're picking the cheap insurance, you get what you pay for. When I was in insurance you couldn't even cancel a policy for someone (in Louisiana) without their signature from them.

Why are you relying on an insurance agent to tell you when it’s time to renew your insurance? The companies send out multiple letters and emails. You also own a card that tells you exactly when it ends.

How do you cause a lapse in coverage? It automatically renews.

Why not just purchase insurance directly through the carrier instead of using an agent?

Law hasn’t changed, OP signed a cancellation but did not read it.
