The Google self driving car is on the way to be available to the public here

Waiting for the smart replies of why it is not going to work

Well worth the danger risk compared to actual

taken a few in Phoenix and in San Fran just last week. They are everywhere in Frisco.

No doubt the future is here. It's freaky, but they work. Might as well get used to it.

ETA: Seems to be a good bit cheaper than Uber or Lyft too...

That's a fairly misleading chart. I still wouldn't step foot in a Waymo, though.

Fairly misleading? Its own text says it’s complete BS.

Yep. But most people will just look at the data points and ignore the rest of the graphic.

Why not? When I used them in SF, I noticed how "polite they are. Other drivers take advantage of this by cutting them off and stuff like that.

Good

Anything that gets rid of shitty Uber and Lyft drivers and cars, I'm all for it.

This doesn't even state whether it's like for like driving scenarios.

Most autonomous vehicles are restricted to downtown and generally low speed areas.

I'd have no clue if the human crash rate is restricted to the same type of areas or includes interstate miles or whatever else. No doubt in my mind the machines will eventually be a big win for safety but I like having data that is fair.
