If Pels want to make a trade where they come out "ahead"...they will HAVE to trade Herb.

You aren't allowed to write "Herb" and "trade" in the same sentence on this board.

Well when the trades proposed have all been fricking dumb what do you expect?

Herb was all defense 1st team and shot almost 40% from 3 on what many say is the best contract in the league

So yeah trading him to move up into the teens or getting one future first is fricking dumb as hell

Agreed, but making a long term decision is not the worst move. If we do trade him for an all star level player or top 3 then it would probably be worth it. Not for a teen or late lottery first tho.

I said it multiple times, I’d have no problem trading Herb if we didn’t move DD last year. Now it would have to be a Danny Ainge type win deal to move Herb.

Actually...I'm not THAT high on Ace. Herb's max "value" in a trade would obviously be if he goes to a SERIOUSLY contending team...that believes they just need a small "push".

Seems to me...Pels should wait until the trade deadline...to get max value (but you never know what some team might offer to get ahead of the rush.) Of course, this assumes Herb stays healthy & shows he has fully recovered from his injury situation.

Rest assured, any team that seems to "overpay" for Herb...will be one that is smart enough to realize his shooting % on shots taken from the 3-pt line last year was actually not 30% ...but a tad above 36%. Any decent analyse will know this. I mention this only because, to me, the main question mark on Herb...is his 3-pt shooting %...and the bottom line is...Herb will likely shoot 37-41% on 3-pt shots for the next few years...and if true...that, along with his fabulous defense...will make him QUITE valuable to certain contending teams. Pels should make the move...and get "overpaid" by somebody...for a change. Most will really hate to see him go...but best for the Pels...long run.

Utah reportedly is looking for at least 2 1sts for Walker Kessler. No way we should deal Jones simply to move up 10 spots or so from 23.

I don't think Herb and Jose will ever be valued by another team enough for them to compensate us the value/$ they provide here. I think their compensation is a great bargain for what they provide.

It's pretty funny with how shitty and irrelevant this franchise has always been yet this board still overrates and forms connections to the vast majority of the roster it feels like. I'm all for trading Herb if it improves the team, or even shakes things up a bit and potentially improves the team, in regards to drafting a prospect.

I think most of Griffin's role players will be gone when the season starts. And they'll slowly work their way up to guys like Murray, Herb, and Jose in the following year.

You’re right but some people on here struggle to comprehend this. They’ll also get mad when herbs value drops in a few years and get upset why we didn’t trade him sooner like BI

Id agree with you. Herb is a glue guy, someone a contending team can value highly. We are not contenders, we should cash in now when his value is at its apex for us with his current contract.

The main argument against seems to be hes a culture setter? Our culture sucks, he's been here awhile. If you are relying on one player to set your culture, then you are doomed to suck. Trade Willie if you want a better culture, it should have no impact on trading herb.

Arguing value is valid, saying herb is untradeable makes little sense.

IF...we trade Herb...and about 90% of the NBA fans out there do NOT think we were vastly overpaid...for whatever we get...then, I don't think the Pels did a good job of getting max value for him.

BTW: What did Caruso end up being "worth"...to the Thunder this season?...and Herb should end up being a much better all-around player that Caruso...once the dust settles.

Yeah lets trade the only guy who bothers to play defense thats on a team friendly contract and would probably sign another one that helps the team but also pays Herb. No chance I trade Herb and want nothing to do with Ace Bailey. We already have one child on the roster in Zion, we don’t need another. Just stay at 7 and take whoever falls out of Kon, Tre, Maluach and Fears. One will since it looks like 1-3 is Flagg, Harper and VJ. If Maluach is gone then package 23, 40 and Hawkins or a future 2nd to move up a few spots and take a big man.
