Travinski was so big for that 23 team. You always hear about Skenes, White, Crews but he was a crucial part of winning the whole thing that year...

Love this. And love Nathan Dunn. Dude was a butcher at 3B but the first time I heard “hit it a country mile” was Jim Hawthorne talking about Nathan Dunn.

And 7 guys with 1.000+ OPS in 2023 is insane

Does Crews have the top OBP overall? Hard to compete in slugging/OPS with the guys who used drop 5 bats

Dylan Crews would have had 30+ HR’s with the Easton Reflex they used in 1997. Those bats were OP.

Yes. He was .567. Lyle Mouton at .538 was next. I don't think anyone else was better than about .490.

As a stats nerd, I love to see stuff like this. Nice job putting it together.

Mental game, he was a total swag player too. He seemed like a huge leader.

By all accounts Nathan is a great guy too. My buddy’s wife is his niece here in Birmingham.

Another thing I noticed when compiling the list is that there were several more very good college hitters that did not quite make the list.

I could have added a few more to make a top 50 but decided to stop in the mid 900s OPS.

Damn! That '23 team was absolutely loaded. 7 of 9 hitters were above 1.000.

That is unbelievable.

Milam slumped in the regular season but was our best bat in the postseason. What were his stats from just Regional, SR, and Omaha?

Crews by far the most impressive considering the bats plus how much better the pitching talent is now in college baseball

Beloso too. Rewatched highlights from some of the WF and UF wins in the CwS and did not remember him having as many hits as he did. He was huge though. Especially the Homer in extras in Game 1 of the finals.

OPS of 1.120 in the 11 games. .564 on base + .556 slugging

We were all saying at the end of the regular season that if MIlam and Bear could just start hitting like they had in the past this team could win it all. And it happened.
