Kid was an absolute superstar from the first pitch he saw this season.
Curiel Freshman Year:
258 AB
89 Hits
.345 AVG
.470 OBP
55 RBI's
67 Runs
20 doubles
1 National Championship
Besides Bregman, who comes to mind with comparable Freshman year stats?

I can’t remember the exact stats but I think Furniss had a really good Freshman year.

Mike Fontenot might just be the most underrated Tiger ever. His freshman season is pretty damn good.
My answer: Mighty Mike Fontenot.
He also won an MLB World Series in 2010. Mike had an excellent baseball career.

Wally Pontiff had very similar numbers his freshman year in 2000.

Yes, Crews has a few more HR Fr. year.
But Curiel has similar/better stats along with a National Championship ring.

He hit one my freshman year (2000/2001) that was a LASER beam to right field...Can't remember who it was against, but it barely got higher than the old box RF fence, but had to be 110+ exit velo, before such a stat was discussed.

you're leaving out Crews
as a freshman, he slashed .362/.453/.663 with 18 HRs and 42 RBIs
Also Tre Morgan
.355/.441/.526
Mike Fontenot also won National freshman of the year
.352/.452/.592 w 17 HRs and 64 RBIs
And then you can talk about guys like Brett Laxton, Alex Lange, and Lane Mestepey if you include pitchers

I thought of Crews immediately after hitting send...agreed

This seems to be a conversation about individual accomplishments.
The natty can come up in a conversation about team accomplishments.

Crews hit near .500 for the regional with a couple of homers. He helped carry a mediocre team to a regional win.
There is zero denying Curiel had better team mates. So using “Curiel won a ring” doesn’t fly.
