Makes it pretty clear.
Coach Rage should have zipped it and responded accordingly when he was shooed.
No matter what, the home plate ump is the final authority on that field at that time. It's not his job to de-escalate a coaches behavior.
Own it coach

The thing that pissed me off the most is how many idiots were saying “it’s the 1st inning you have to give him a warning!!!!” Then both the Coastal coach and NCAA come out and say he was giving a warning and continued yapping so he got tossed and then the narrative changes how he still should not have been tossed.

I still think he should have been given a little more rope. Or shall I say, I wish he had been given more rope… I didn't want any ammo for people to say that it affected the game in LSU's favor

Surely he would have used it properly

The crew is expected to give coaches a HUGE amount of leeway, take responsibility for "de-escalating" a raging coach, and bend the rules based on the gravity of the game, but where are the expectations for a coaching staff in a championship game to not have a rec league style meltdown over the strike zone in the very first inning?

He didn't need a taller tree to hang himself from. Longer rope is pointless.

Especially since it was the quick ejection that caused the “prolonged arguing” and cascade of ejections.

Why? Do you know what was said or how it was said? Their coach seems to be extremely emotional and a little unstable. Maybe he was riding them for the first 3 games and they talked to him before the game to keep things civil and he went full retard. We don’t have the details but in a game like that, the coach should also show the same restraint and professionalism that everyone is wanting the umpire to show. You didn’t see Jay Johnson become unhinged when Jeff Head cost us a run by blocking a passed ball, or when they overturned Dickinson’s HBP. Both of those could have directly affected the outcome of the game but JJ said his peace and maintained composure.

Bad take.
Its the first inning--he shouldn't have been arguing balls and strikes in the 1st inning with a runner on 2nd.
What legitimate manager/coach, in that game, is arguing balls/strikes that early?
And let's not forget that it's the first base coach that started it. Maybe the ump didn't help things if Schnall asked for an explanation, but he most definitely didn't help things when he came out the dugout throwing up 3 fingers and cussing at him.

Considering he complained about 3 prior pitches, I'm betting there was a lot of "colorful" chirping coming from Schnall in the dugout before we ever knew there was an issue.
Either way, its ghetto. If you have a great coach who is a hot head, the staff needs to reign him in rather than jump in the fight and make things worse. The onus is NOT on the crew to allow him to break the rules and calm him down.

Rules are rules regardless of the level of game importance.
Saturday Jay Johnson was told no he couldn’t ask a question after the review of a HBP. Johnson kept quiet and was able to keep coaching. They were consistent with following the rules.
CCU was warned and told three times to be quiet and return to the dugout.
It was handled properly under the rules, in fact CCU coach was given extra warnings that didn’t need to be given.

So... not for bumping the ump.

I don’t think he bumped him. Looked like the ump tripped over the leg of the other ump.

The CC dick riders in the booth kept saying they should bend the rules because it was a national championship game.
clowns

No one seems to care about the head coach arguing balls and strikes that early though.
And the clown had nothing to say in the top of the first when his guys were getting the same call.

I know. Schnell said in the presser that was why they gave him 2 games, which was different that what the crew said.

Then I’m sure he’ll appeal and win it.

I also think the coaches should give the umps a little more rope, instead of losing it in the 1st inning. Maybe wait til 3rd or 4th inning before losing your shite?
