Besides Anderson and Eyanson. Shores definitely but for me it has to be Jacob Mayers. Dude was all over the place to start the season but by the end he looked so much better. It looks like Jay really believes in him to going forward. Yeskie definitely has gotten these guys better. Thoughts?

Shores because he had to do it a lot over last several weeks.

Casan Evans went from highly touted recruit to probable 2026 Friday night starter in the blink of an eye

I’d say Shores. Dude was very iffy as a Sunday starter and his first few relief appearances were brutally bad.

In the postseason though - he pitched 12 innings, gave up 7 earned runs (all in 2 games), had 16 Ks. He came up big when we most needed another guy to chew up some innings in high leverage situations.

Really hope teams get cute with Shores in the draft and puts LSU in position to sway him back.
We may not lose next year with him closing the way he pitched the last few games.

I want to see how they develop Rizy. He was nails in the back half of the reason in his limited role.

from Supers and Omaha combined

5 games, 8.1 innings, 3 runs, 11 K, 0 walks

LSU went 5-0 in those games

And Jay had commented how that statline was unfair when he gave up 2 runs because we should have made 2 double plays

Shores has two natty's, has had tommy john surgery, and looks like he has improved his velocity and has other pitches working. I think he is a first or second rounder now. Can't blame him for going pro if he leaves which I expect.

Jay pushed back when Skip told him that no matter how many arms you have in staff, come postseason you find out that you really only have eight at the most.

Jay used eleven in the postseason. Nine in high-impact situations.

Anderson
Eyanson
Evans
Shores
Cowan
Noot
Schmidt
Williams
Mayers

Rizy
Primeaux

At midseason, there’s no way I would’ve thought Mayers would be in the top eight group, but Yeskie got him to find the zone just in time.

Evans is a lock but Cooper Williams, Schmidt, Mayers are definitely in contention for Weekend slots next season. I expect Jay to get 2 pitching studs out of the portal also. Jay is always selling LSU and he has the resume now to get pretty much anyone he wants out of the portal.

Outside that UALR appearance Shores was awesome this postseason. The 3 ER against Arkansas in CWS he was charged with was defense's fault not turning 2 DP opportunities they had, otherwise he has 0 ER that appearance. Outside of that UALR appearance he wouldnt have given up an ER otherwise this entire postseason including SECT.

Schmidt was not relied on. Hopefully that changes next year. Skip was right about 8

I think with one off-season and one more pitch he will be good to go. 97 mph fastball is nice but every team in the SEC has 4 or 5 guys that can hit that speed. Location of his fastball and his nasty curve will get him in the rotation next season.

Don't forget about sheerin.

If he comes back right he has a chance to at least be the Sunday guy.

Mayers for sure.

Shores was a starter for half the season. He was always capable of throwing a few innings.

Mayers was wild and couldn’t throw a strike. To build the trust of the coaching staff and close out a game to advance to the championship series was a huge rise from where he began the season.

The fact that we ended up with as many trusted arms in June as we did is pretty impressive. Remember this next April when we're bitching about the bullpen

Shores is a lesson to all the dipshits on the rant that you must continue to let your high ceiling guys play through whatever struggles they may encounter during the regular season. Yea you might take a few losses, but no one cares who the regular season champ is
