Iran holds world hostage: Iranian government poised to SHUT Strait of Hormuz closing off 20 per cent of global oil and gas

You can set an egg timer to how long the Strait of Hormuz will be closed.

Iran can't shut down the straight of a goat trail much less Hormuz.

I am extremely skeptical Iran will shut the strait
Their parliament is a rump……it doesn’t hold any power so it’s meaningless that they voted to shut the strait
If the Iranian military truly shuts the strait, it would be suicide for their economy and their navy

The US has the technology to make Iran think twice about doing this, but Iran is just crazy.

Looks like Iran isn't unconditionally surrendering.

Sounds like the Strait of Hormuz needs some freedom

How will things go for Iran when their oil and gas industry is completely shut down?
Posted on 6/22/25 at 10:48 am to Geekboy
That would be a case of FAFO

Israel has bombed much of it, so it probably wouldn’t make much difference.

Our military is nothing more than a strong arm for global corporations. It’s sickening.

Shutting down the Strait of Hormuz cripples the Iranian regime's ability to make $$. Something like 90% of their exports go to China through the Strait and those exports account for around 80% of Iran's GDP.
This would be the proverbial cutting off your nose to spite your face move.

Iran isn't really allowed to sell oil to western countries because of the sanctions/embargos.
The majority of their oil goes to China.

I thought bombing an empty fordow would end everything and delete the ayatolla from existence?

You think they would block their own ships?
