Ballerina - a John Wick World movie

Wasn't sure what to expect. Will just say, it doesn't disappoint. Some of the mahem and death is creative as hell and there's some incredible dueling flamethrowers. Ana de Armas was pretty good and John Wick himself shows up too.
If you like non-stop fights, gun battles, explosions, cas crashes, exploding heads, and martial arts, then you'll love this movie.

Saw it last night with my kiddo, it was truly nonstop action from beginning to end
Don’t expect any plot or character development, but if you were looking for a guy movie, lots of guns, fights, bad guys getting shot, this movie is perfect for you

The one flaw I saw (heard) that stood out as a faux pas in writing is that Ana de Arnas' character. Walking away, my daughter said, "what was her name in the movie?" to which my wife replied, "I don't recall."
Her name in the movie is Eve Macarro. Sounds like a name for one of the New Jersey Housewives. Not very memorable, and they use her name in the movie only in a couple of incidents, not building up her name recognition which would be handy if they intend to use her as the DEI John Wick hire for a series of Wick World films

John Wick is the name recognition here. Hence it being in the title
Having said that, they need to find out if she is marketable in this world. They lead with the pew pew pew and action to see if she can carry it.
If it’s received well, then you bet there will be more and they will dive in her and her character more (for better or for worse.)

I went and saw it by myself Saturday night.
I'd watch 100 John Wick movies if they made them.
The movies are a blast and I enjoyed it as usual.

The fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We love the John Wick universe though, and even watched The Continental series.
I feel like Eve was said a lot, and to an extent so was her last name (namely by Winston at least a couple times). Being from the South though my brain didn't even go to Macarro/Italian surname and I was thinking to myself .. "how the hell is she a McCarrow or some other Mc when it seems her character's father is Hispanic and she herself in real life is too."

quote:You gotta go with the suspension of belief in all physics to watch this, so what's the harm in ignoring a little thing like the last name gonna hurt. Go with it. Don't think too much when watching these shows. Just enjoy the mayhem and appreciate the amazing cinema and detail the Wick films have.

I am a Wick fan. This version was good. Checked all of the action boxes. Ana did a believable job.

I doubt they plan on using her to "replace" Wick. They just want to keep the Wick Uinverse alive. If I'm not mistaken isn't "Nobody" in the same Universe? Plus they are making a wick movie about Caine( The blind Asian guy).

The action was good but when De Armas had to act it was rough.

I really liked it.
Glad they had a way to put Lance Reddick in it. Good to see Ian McShane and Anjelica Huston in it also. The movie gave us more of what Anjelica Huston's character is about.

Yes. I feel like this movie would’ve been better had it not been in the JW universe. I expected more just because of that and the action with her in this just didn’t sell me on it being a good fit in that world.
