Anyone stumbled upon a dead human body

I’ve probably been lucky in my life. Known people who found loved ones passed away, seen a body where they called police, etc
I’ve unfortunately seen a couple people deceased on the roadways after police and responders are there, and that’s enough for me.
Not sure how I would handle being the first coming upon a deceased person
Do you get crazy emotion first and then call police? Try to make sure they are deceased and then call? Straight up call 911?

Didn’t stumble. Found several when I was running tugs & pushboats.
RULE #1 on floaters: Do not attempt to recover them, they fall apart and really REALLY stink.
Plus, if it’s a suspicious death, you can mess up evidence.

I’ve never stumbled upon a Jeff Davis 8 murder victim.

That’s horrible and damn near nauseating

Yes. I stumbled upon a man out in the woods that was dead as a doorknob. I pulled out his wallet and the name said DB Cooper.

Nope, and possibly, no indications but who ever really knows

That’s quite the twist. Did you just not want to know or what…when you sent them instead of checking it yourself

I've had three people die on worksites so far. Non-occupational, heart attacks and strokes. Dealt with alot of significant injuries that could have gone either way. Had three others that weren't in my area but I investigated.

I was mowing our fraternity land that we never took care of.
Weeds four feet tall. Under them was a guy that had needle still in arm. I stopped mowing two feet from him with a push mower.
Had been there for three or four days.

I found my mom. I panicked. Was super emotional. Called 911.
I really miss her.

Yes. Came across a roomate's body in his bathroom. He died in the bathtub (heart condition) and had been in the tub around 12 hours. It's the second dead body that I have seen, and their coloration was the same: a grey/ ashy/blue color. Very creepy...

Me and some friends heard a story about a kid who had been hit by a train several miles away from town. We walked the tracks to go find him but some older kids were trying to find him too and started bullying us. We ended up finding the dead body but we had to pull a gun on the older kids after a heated exchange. Pretty wild couple of days but it’s nice to know you have friends that will stand by you.

Not stumbled, but I went to get Chick-fil-A after working in the yard one evening and on my way over there I saw a guy walking across the highway. While I'm in line, I see an ambulance and a couple of cop cars driving by. On my way back, that same guy is laying on his back, dead from blowing his brains out. The gun and a pillow were laying next to him.

Picked up a dead body in a shrimp trawl in north west Lake Ponchartrain in the mid 1960's. Dragging it to the boat launch and dealing with law enforcement really ruined our day.
Drove up the Kuwait high way of death 6 months after the first war ended. Still had crispy critters

I've seen bodies but never stumbled upon them. Attended autopsies for clinical or whatever but my dad found a dead guy on a resorts hiking trail in Sedona. Said the guy had two guns, a glock and a silver revolver and it looked like he'd killed himself.
Said he went to the hotel manager and asked them if they were missing any guests. Manager said ya...
They offered to pay for counseling for my dad and were pretty sorry he'd found him and my dad said no to counseling but he could use a nicer room . Said the suite they put him in had lateral shower nozzles and shortly after he upgraded his own bathroom to have em

I've had the "pleasure" of doing 4 welfare checks in my lifetime. Only once was the person still alive, although they had been transported to the hospital after accidentally getting struck by a car the previous night with nobody to notify next of kin. That one survived after 4 months in the hospital and rehab facility.
The other 3 times I found them dead, all in their residences where all 3 lived alone after divorces or by choice.
The last one was 3 years ago this past February and he had been dead at least a week-------and it wasn't nice.
