Spending the evening in Kansas City before departing for Omaha on Saturday. What are the best BBQ places?

Jack Stack is nice. Wasn’t wowed by Gates.

Q39 - very popular, competition background and transitioned it into a very successful brick and mortar. The wings are solids. The ribs are great. Really good apps and sides.
Jack Stack - one of the more well known. The beef ribs are bomb.
Slaps - little less well known, but puts out good stuff. It’s on the KCK side of town. Also started as a competition bbq team.
Joes - another one of the popular classics. Burnt end Z-man is one of the best bbq options in KC. The OG is in an old gas station.
Meat Mitch - one of my favorites at the moment. If you watch any bbq YouTubers you’ve probably seen them use the meat Mitch sauce. They put out some great food. Don’t sleep on their other restaurants Char Bar in Westport.
Harps - this place is doing Texas style bbq and is going it right. Consistently voted as best bbq in KC. It as convenient as some of the others.
Skip Gates, Arther Bryant’s

I have been to Q39, Slaps and Jack Stack.
I rank them in that order but they are all good. Q39 has a pork belly app that is one of the greatest things I have ever eaten.

Q39 and Joe's were the best I had last time I was there. Jack Stack was just okay.

Jack Stack is a nicer sit down option. Fantastic food.
Gates is the more erratic go up to the counter and tell them your order. People yelling and screaming. Once again fantastic food.

Arthur Bryant’s on Brooklyn for me, get their beef and pork combo with fries and tooth cracking cold bud. This is an original KC BBQ spot in the hood but it’s safe, imho best sauce in town.

We went there when we were in town for the Packer game. It was good. They thanked us for heading out their way to try it.
ETA: Packers won

I was on a business trip there once, all my KC colleagues suggested the old gas station spot. Oklahoma Joe's. I got there what I thought was early, about 11:15, the parking lot and all surrounding grass was already full of cars, trucks, vans, cops, all the usual suspects to indicate it's good stuff. Unfortunately, I had a plane to catch an decided I couldn't risk the wait. Huge regrets. If I ever find myself back there, it's going to be my first stop, not putting it off until last.

There is an Oklahoma Joes but they got sued and had to change the name to Kansas City Joes. I go to the one in Olathe when I visit family up that way and it is delicious. Get the Z-Man sandwich and Boulevard Wheat unfiltered beer. There is also a bakery across that street that sells really good bread. Better get your cardio up if you spend much time there LOL

Place was f’ing phenomenal. Just went a few months ago
Get the baked beans side dish, they cook it under the brisket being smoked so all the drippings go into it.

LC’s
LC's is an awesome rec. Not in a great area unless you are going to Kaufman for a baseball game. It's a ghetto little spot but they put out some good food.
