Putting Brown in for Stanfield

Not talked about a ton but a HUGE move by Jay. Not a lot of coaches make that move

I can't imagine why he would not have made that move, to be perfectly honest. Under those circumstances, late in the game, against a pitcher who has shut our bats down each time we'd faced him before, you gotta treat that situation like it's your last real threat. With that in mind, Brown crushes righties, and Stanfield, while a solid player, is not a superstar who you're removing from the game.

Brown was always coming in first opportunity against a righty. He’s been way too good against them.

This, 100%.
Brown will start when a righty starts and will PH when a lefty starts but the move is made to a right handed pitcher
It's as certain and true as the sun rising from the east

hopefully next year he can put it all together and show some increased production against LHP

would love to see him on the mound as well next year... was the top LHP in a LA class that included Kade Anderson
with the 34 man roster limit 2 way players will be more valuable

JJ absolutely out schooled DVH last night.

Yes. People agree with your post, but downvote mine for stating the obvious, even though we're making the same point.
I just love internet logic.

In my view, Brown should never leave the lineup. He’s a good hitter, fast and a good fielder too

Anyone watching Jay coach this year knew he would counter DVH with pinch-hitting Jake for Stanfield. It worked. I even like the subsequent double steal call with Brown at first. We get another run across the plate if Brown doesn't slip.

it was really the perfect timing...OF for OF...Brown hits righty's and you can easily slide Curiel to CF and Pearson to left.

I approve this view.

Jay is great, and he's a winner, and we're all glad to have him, but could you point to where he "out schooled" DVH? I don't mean that question in a condescending way, I just would like to know if there is something I'm forgetting.
Van Horn went to the best pitcher he had left. It didn't work. That's not his fault. Jay went to Shores, and it briefly worked, until it didn't. Not his fault. But then he left him out there for the ninth. I'm not sure who else to blame for that. That didn't work. Then the crazy bottom of the ninth happened, and it had nothing to do with coaching on either side.
Why do we have to make things out to be more than what they are? Van Horn gets a lot of crap, but he didn't drop the pop up that should have won them a national championship a few years ago, either. But I guess we're supposed to believe he got out coached.

Was really an easy decision in my mind. Very easy

Jay's pinch hits this year have been ridiculously well timed. The number for Jake as a pinch hitter this year are now 7 for 12. Which is insane. Hes made good timely pinch hits with Larson as well.

Oh, DVH is a dumbass for pitching to Jones with first base open, so there definitely was plenty to do with coaching

Awe man, some people downvoted you. I hope you get through this

You’re getting downvoted, but Jay himself said it was a very easy decision in the postgame

yeah hes damned if you do or dont there IMO.
right on right matchup with Jones... Pearson waiting on deck.
im surprised we didnt see Coil at any point in the CWS... the inside arkansas guys hnted there might have been a discipline issue there so who knows
