was it a sure thing? anyway, you can understand it to a degree. the play generally is to get the leadoff runner. after the fact it's easy to see what he should've gone for the double play.

Even with the SS decision to go the 3rd, it looked like the 3rd baseman still had a shot at throwing Milam out.
