Looking for a recommendation to play a round in Destin. Group is fairly novice. Indian Bayou, Kelly Plantation, and Regatta Bay have been mentioned amongst the group.
Searched and didn't see any prior recommendations, but if I missed it I apologize in advance.

If novices I'd go Indian Bayou. Cheaper price point, less likely to lose balls.

Played Raven last week. In good shape. $125/round.

Price is always a factor in Destin these days.
Indian Bayou is tighter than the other courses you mentioned. It’s the older course in town.
Regatta and Kelly are both amazing.
Emerald is another good option.
Stay away from Seascape. It’s a dump.
IB4 drive an hour away to play another course

I don’t care much for Kelly although it is a nice course. Seascape closed some time ago. We play Raven and Baytowne.

Can i interest you in Windswept Dunes?
It's priced similarly to Regatta and Kelly, in worse shape, but it's an hour away.

What do you mean? I’ve always found Windswept in GREAT shape. If anything the fairways are too pristine and you don’t get enough roll or bounce in your drive, but every lie is perfect.

I’m finally getting on burnt pine in a few weeks. Excited to play a different course out there.
Anyone played it?

Yes. I lost a few balls on good shots because they rolled into water I didn’t know was there. Greens are very quick. Requires being able to work the ball to score. If your driver isn’t working leave it in the bag, course isn’t terribly long just narrow.

Burnt pines doesn’t live up to the hype..golf in Destin is disappointing compared to other beach destinations

I honestly haven’t really heard hype about it. I’m just excited to not play the raven or Kelly etc for the 100th time

We went the other direction and played Tiger Point in Pensacola/Gulf Breeze area.
Solid links style course but kind of overpriced. Green fees vary based on time of day. We payed 74 for adults and 38 for juniors.
Would play it again. Was in good, not great shape and greens were rolling true but REALLY fast. At least compared to our home course in AR,

Can I hit balls in a driving range anywhere in the area without playing the golf course?

Recently played Origins, which is 31 miles from Destin to the east (near Rosemary Beach). It plays as a 10-hole par 3, was very nice and a lot of fun.
I think I paid about $215 total for two carts and me and my two sons.

Played Kelly 2 weeks ago. Marshals were up our arse about pace of play and we weren’t even being slow. They jammed the tee times really tightly. I got really irrationally angry when I found out only 5 groups went off that morning.

We played Indian Bayou, Kelly Plantation and a course 20 min north in Niceville call Rocky Bayou. Rocky Bayou was a fun course; there were some pretty cool holes with elevation changes over water. It was around $80 and wasn't crowded at all.

Bump for Indian Bayou and Windswept Dunes conditions.Played Indian Bayou Monday ($125)and Windswept Dunes ($88) today. Both were in good shape. Called ahead about green conditions as I didn’t want any surprises when I got to the course. Both the same distance from where I’m staying. I’ve played a lot of the courses around here.
Windswept Dunes is by far the best course around here if you don’t care about seeing the bay or gulf. All of the holes are individual as you can’t see any other holes other than the one you’re on. Played in 3.5 hours. Both courses are punching soon so keep that in mind if you are down here.
