Great news, lots of kids with abusive parents were saved today.

I’d imagine this will cause a cascade of other states following TNs lead
quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for transgender minors, a stunning setback to transgender rights.

The justices’ 6-3 decision in a case from Tennessee effectively protects from legal challenges many efforts by President Donald Trump’s Republican administration and state governments to roll back protections for transgender people. Another 26 states have laws similar to the one in Tennessee.

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for a conservative majority that the law does not violate the Constitution’s equal protection clause, which requires the government to treat similarly situated people the same.

amazing really.

the amount of people who are narcassistic and should have never been allowed to have children is insane

this is just a new variation on Munchausen's.

shite like this is why people are trusting the media less and less. Zero need for this statement, and a 6-3 decision means at least one liberal justice crossed the aisle, so not stunning at all.

Just imagine the outrage from some of the parents that believe their 8 year old son should be free to be a girl and needs transition care.

How dare scotus not pander to parents who want to let their 8 year old remove his parts to be a girl

I love how they phrase surgical mutilation of children’s genitalia as being “protections for transgender people.”

You think you hate the media enough. But really it’s impossible to hate them enough.

by Liberal you mean like ACB or John Roberts? because there are only 3 Justices on the court that have been appointed by Democratic presidents.

This TRANS TRANS TRANS shite needs to end.

Never has .001 % of the population received so much attention, every freaking day.

Wasting money having SCOTUS have to rule that a 7 yr old shouldn't have his private parts screwed with.

These liberal idiots have destroyed common sense , thank god TRUMP won and we can try to return to normal.

My kid thinks he’s Superman, should I not let him jump from a skyscraper so he can fly or step in front of a speeding bullet.?

deliberately poisoning/killing your kid vs cutting off their genitals.

both are pretty awful.

People who think minors should receive hormonal or surgical transition care should be buried under the jail.

Unreal there is a huge piece of our population ok with this.

Do whatever you want once you're an adult. In fact, cut your hair differently and wear different clothes as a minor if you really want. But you can't do permanent, life-altering physical changes to minors. Outrageous this is even a discussion.

Agreed that both are horrible. I cannot understand how one can hurt their kids. To be accurate, we are talking about Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. A quick glance shows about a 6 to 10% death rate for the kids. I don't think there is a lot of information on long term effects of "trans care" but I would think the suicide rate would be close to 10% if not more.

Again, both are horrible. One is celebrated by about half of the country.

yeah and for that reason (and the fact they have to go through adulthood permanently disfigured) i think you're right, trans-surgery takes the square.

I love Thomas:

quote:

There are several problems with appealing and deferring
to the authority of the expert class. First, so-called experts
have no license to countermand the “wisdom, fairness, or
logic of legislative choices
.” FCC v. Beach Communications,
Inc., 508 U. S. 307, 313 (1993). Second, contrary to the representations of the United States and the private plaintiffs,
there is no medical consensus on how best to treat gender
dysphoria in children
. Third, notwithstanding the alleged
experts’ view that young children can provide informed consent to irreversible sex-transition treatments, whether such consent is possible is a question of medical ethics that States must decide for themselves. Fourth, there are particularly good reasons to question the expert class here, as recent revelations suggest that leading voices in this area
have relied on questionable evidence, and have allowed ideology to influence their medical guidance.

Sotomayor is an oxygen thief:
quote:

"[T]he majority subjects a law that plainly discriminates on the basis of sex to mere rational-basis review. By retreating from meaningful judicial review exactly where it matters most, the Court abandons transgender children and their families to political whims. In sadness, I dissent."
