Interested in getting IPTV at my house. Anyone have a good easy to follow how to? Is there a certain provider that’s better than others?
Tried googling and there’s so much out there I’m not sure where to start or what’s legit.

I know someone that uses iptorrents. Once you get on there just sign up and pay the $10. It's good for 30 days. They don't even keep it all year. Just during sports mostly. Can get some info about apps and how to install on the troypoint site but they are also trying to sell a bunch of stuff on there. It's where I learned how to set it up.

What an ironic question.

I can help you with an ipt account if you go that direction.

Is that the torrents site? How do you get it set up on your tv?
This is the main thing I’m worried about. I can handle tech stuff but also not insanely knowledgeable so I just don’t want to get myself down something I can’t figure out you know?

Ipt is free and it's just a massive cache of movies and TV shows.
However they offer a 2 tuner iptv service for $10/mo
The trick is finding an IPTV client/app you like on the device you plan to use.
Then you just plug in your personal IPTV id and you're off to the races.
A little wild West because you're looking at thousand and thousands of channels and you'll need to dramatically pare that down to the channels you're interested in .

I saw somewhere online that it works with plex. I may try to go that route since we already have that app on our tv’s
I had an ex whose family had IPTV and left all the channels. Got curious one night and scrolled through them all and ended up on some sort of Islamic state tv or something I’m pretty sure
shite was wild

Plex is a rabbit hole just FYI. You'll need to have a dedicated computer to run it even if it's just a small collection you want to play for your family

I don’t know what my wife’s family does but they definitely utilize plex to host movies they have.

Get Tivimate app to play your IPTV streams. Its the closest layout to normal cable tv I've found. Its a free app but if you pay the $6-7 / year you get to create a favorites list of channels which with IPTV is convenient because you will have a few hundred channels to choose from. I can hook you up with the service I use if interested. It's about $100/year or you can pay like $12/ month. Once you have an IPTV subscription, they will give you a URL, username and password which you input into Tivimate and off you go.

Some providers actually include TiVimate Pro for free with their service. I have 2 providers that I use and they both offer it.

I sure hope my IPTV provider never goes down because I would be lost as hell starting over. I've been with the same one for 5+ years.

Do most IPTV services have a up to date guide included?

I second TiviMate, I have it installed on all of my TV's and phone. Currently watching the LSU game through IPT IPTV.
I also use Plex for movies but I'm not a fan of their IPTV functionality.
Use TiviMate, and the upgrade to Premium is worth it.

Yes, my provider has tivimate, Smarters and some other apps they provide. But you still have to input the Xstream code user name and PW.

For all of the Tivimate fans. It was the standard forever and still is to a lot of people, but have you tried Sparkle? I have both and prefer Sparkle by a good bit. Plus the Sparkle dev is very active, whereas Tivimate development seems to be almost dead.

So how do I go about this on a google tv? Do I download to image first then subscribe or should I subscribe the download. Or do I want to stay away from the tv app and use a stick?
