Dude had child porn and sexually abused an animal and got 2 years. He will probably do 1 then probation. Why do they not take these crimes serious?

Public castration with a shovel of both the judge and perp would send a message.

Hopefully the guards put the word out.

We should all write letters to the inmates at his new home explaining his circumstance. They would want to know.

Sometimes a little support helps get the message across.

I’m like you - - doesn’t seem to be enough. Sounds a plea deal the DA offered. Why would offer that? Dunno…. Sometimes there are issues with the case from the prosecution end and they offer a plea deal just to get the perp locked up.

Who knows…. DA’s office may have accidentally corrupted the computer files and can’t get the evidence off them. (I’ve seen crazier stuff). I guess my point is - -it’s an easy knee-jerk to blame the judge but that’s usually not where the sentence originates in plea deals. Assuming this is one.

This is one of the rare circumstances where I support mandatory sentencing guidelines.

Our judicial system is broken.

Nobody wants to hear this, but we need more funding for prisons and more prisons/bed space in general.

The population of the US has grown exponentially while our prison system has largely stalled out, and funding for new jails/prisons are often fought against by the population and unpopular campaign promises by politicians.

We absolutely need to lock up anybody like this that's a very obvious threat to society for a very long time (possibly for life), but the system isn't there to handle it whether it's the prisons themselves or the DAs being lax.

Just like the dude that purposely ran over a police officer in 2014 while driving intoxicated with his 9 year old in the car and then bragged about running over another 10 years later, it's pretty easy to tell who will and won't be productive members of society and who will and won't possibly harm others.

Something has to give
