It’s a little more complicated than people want to acknowledge for us(US).
If someone that lives in a house down your street was publicly chanting “Death to BlueGrassCardinal’s family,” and had been paying, training, and motivating multiple other neighbors to beat up your kids, wife, and you for many many years…would you ignore it if you understood they were about to take possession of a bomb big enough to blow up your home after many years of trying to get possession of this home while threatening you and attacking you through neighbor proxies all those years. You would ignore that? You wouldn’t consider and threaten do take action to stop it? You wouldn’t consider just wait until your house explodes to do something?
Now consider that Iran sees US and Israel as the same. We both must be wiped from the face of the Earth according to the extremists that run Iran right now. They say it out loud. You don’t have to assume. “Death to America.” The ruling class has been very very clear what they want. The majority in Iran does not agree. This is also why civil war is an almost certainty at some point in Iran. The majority there are progressive.
It’s a pretty good analogy. Seriously, what would you do?

I'll take a moment and accept your premise. Now consider this one.
The neighbor being bullied and harassed has been conditioned and enculturated to cry victim at every turn, no matter what, despite being the biggest baddest motherfricker on the block. Also this neighbor has the HOA (United States) in his pocket, ready and willing to do his bidding at any time. And because of this, said neighbor fricks with his neighbors as well.
No matter who started it, all parties are now bad and they all bring down the neighborhood. Therefore, they all get what's coming to them.
