Being as that Israel could in all likelihood decimate Iran on their own, what is the popular reasoning behind why so many people insist Israel wants to “pull us into the war?”

Because that's what they want? Why wouldn't they want the U.S. spending their bombs and planes?

What Isreal is referring to with the specific mention of eliminating Iran’s nuclear program is the much discussed concept that eliminating that program is in both of our countries’ interests. Which I happen to agree with. But the idea is sharing the burden, so to speak, if indeed it benefits both countries.

They’re not provoking, they’re retaliating. We were complicit in granting Israel passage through Iraqi airspace to carry out the attack. They’ve said they would retaliate. They’ve said they will retaliate. If the rumor holds true, then they did retaliate.
