If Trump, Hegseth & co think it would be high chance of success I wouldn't oppose it, otherwise not worth the risk. If the revolt failed and we backed them, the mullahs would (rightfully) point their finger at us

I still wouldn't trust it under that scenario.

Most of those nations democratized years before the USSR collapsed. Poland, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia were never a part of the USSR, and the Baltic states were the first ones to leave it.

Regardless, Iran isn’t a place of 90 million controlled by a handful that want a theocracy. At best it’s a split society. Their problem. Shouldn’t have given up prosperity and western ideals in the first place in favor of religious nonsense. I have no sympathy.
