The former home of Fleur de Lis Pizza, a Government Street staple since 1946, has been sold for $1.1 million and its new owners plan to reopen the business as a "new and improved Fleur de Lis Pizza."
Records show that Big Horn River LLC bought the property on Government near the intersection of Jefferson Highway on May 21. Big Horn River representative Carl Batson said that by late fall, the building will be back serving pizza with the same decor and a remodeled layout featuring a balcony.
Batson said that the new Fleur de Lis will pay tribute to the pizza spot's origins as a speakeasy with the help of historical tax credits and a newly designed plan from architecture firm TIEK BYDAY.
"The exterior will look just like it did in 1946," Batson said. "It'll be the same ole Fleur de Lis Pizza."
Batson said that he wants to continue the legacy of the iconic pizza joint, whose legend has spread nationwide. He recalled a conversation with a former patron and LSU alumnus in California who fondly remembered Fleur de Lis' Roman pizza pie.

I wonder if they're going to clean the inside or just leave the 1/8" layer of dust on every surface.

….and if I’d still have to wear my grass cutting clothes to eat there. That old grease smell would infuse into clothes. I felt like I couldn’t go anywhere directly after I ate there, because that old grease smell just stuck around.

it will never be ready in time

Which... is exactly what it looks like now, minus the "Roman Pizza" sign: LINK
I'm more curious about what they are going to do on the inside, as well as this "balcony" I'm seeing referenced.

Good news. I know it gets hate on here, but I enjoy going on occasion. Pizza, beer, and a jukebox, I’m happy.

Fleur de Lis' sanitary was gross, and the old owners were asshats.
But Around the World was pretty great. I'll give it another shot once it re-opens.
Cash only baby, gotta avoid them taxes. I wonder the sum employees stole over all those years...

I too am awaiting the return of the Around the World (hold the anchovies).
Been saving a big fruit bomb zin to go with one last FDL pizza pie.

I like it too. They said they are going to renovate the inside. I always found the dirty, dinginess part of the charm

They better have a jukebox and Anchovies

Correct. And that jukebox needs to have some Patsy Cline on it.

I’m pretty sure I’ve had beers with some of you. And the entire WBRZ 10:00 news crew.

Worst pizza ever. It's likely that Great Value frozen pizza is better.

You may have my share.
There's only one thing I'll eat with hairs.

When I moved to Baton Rouge almost 25 years ago, friends here raved about Fleur de Lis so I was all ready to go with them to eat it. 100% barftastic but lacking flavor and salty as phuck, I've gone a few times since for lunch with biz friends, but eat one piece and say I ate breakfast late and am full. Still 100% barftastic.
I guess that if you grew up eating this that would be the only way you would even think it resembles the taste of pizza because your mind was warped at a young age.
