Looking for recs, shopping for a 15k BTU unit. Anybody got one that’s been going strong for a while?

Mitsubishi Mr slim. We deal with all brands and these tend to give us less trouble, not trouble free just less trouble. Good luck.

Just replaced my Frigidaire with a Tosot. Bought from Amazon. So far, so good. It sure is quiet.

Installer is more important than brand.

With that being said, I've had my Daikin wall mount ductless split since 2016 with ZERO issues.

I've installed several pioneers with no issues in ~ 4 years.

Mitsubishi is the best according to my friend who knows such things. Way more money than pioneer.

If youre handy, dont be scared to mount one yourself.

I ran 12 gauge Romex, installed a disconnect box, used a 3 1/2" or so hole saw, hook it up, put in a 240v 20 amp breaker, charge the line set and youre in good shape.

I put an 18k BTU in my woodshop and it works perfectly for temperature and humidity control. No issues with my big machines with cat iron surfaces, my planes, chisels or whatever.

How big is your shop? I am debating a 12k vs 18k. The 12k are nice because you just plug them into any outlet.

Have had good luck with a 2-zone Samsung system installed at the other house. It's also a heat pump and is supposed to be rated down to single-digit temps. Shouldn't get that bad here but it had no trouble when it got down into the teens.

Many of the 120's are more than 15 amps, probably the 12k included, so you may not be able to use any outlet you have.

Cool thing is they are totally variable speed, so oversized is zero concern. You put it in auto, set the temp, and totally forget about it. Theyre great.

Best money can buy: Mitsubishi

Best value and warranty: Senville

I have a 2 ton Senville Mini split on my garage apartment, been running for 5 years.

I also have the Senville 3 ton ducted central AC in my house for the past year and it's tits!

After my 3rd window unit going out in 5 years, I'm switching to a minisplit. Should be in this Thursday. What surge protectors did y'all put on yours?

Another vote for Mitsubishi.

I have a 2T that’s been installed for about 7 years. No issues.

None. Theyre built to survive shitty power supplies and brown outs associated with 3rd world country power grids.

I fed mine some really trashy power from a generator with a jacked up governor as an experiment and it ran jusy fine like nothing was wrong.

Been running a TOSOT for the past year in the master bedroom. 9k BTU with inverter. One of the best purchases I've ever made. You can't hear it, at all. Paid $450 for it off of WOOT (only purchase I've ever made from them but it was a deal)

Can also run it with a 2k amp suitcase inverter, verified it first hand...will be a super quiet setup for hurricane aftermath scenario
